Add a login form for the free AmicaChat IRC chat to your site. Choose the chat room and match colors, width and style to your pages.

== Description ==

AmicaChat Widget adds a small login form to your site. Visitors choose a nickname, accept the terms and enter an AmicaChat chat room, without registration and without leaving any data on your site.

You choose the room: the default one or any room name you like, so your visitors can meet in a room dedicated to your site, blog or forum.

Features:

* Shortcode `[amicachat]` for pages and posts, with per-shortcode options
* Classic widget for sidebars and footers
* Settings page with live preview
* Adjustable chat room, title, button text, maximum width or full width, alignment, rounded or square corners, shadow, border and colors
* Responsive layout: nickname field and button on one line, stacked on narrow screens
* Shortcode attributes in English and Italian
* No JavaScript and no external files: the stylesheet is included in the plugin
* The "by AmicaChat" credit is off by default and can be enabled in the settings

Minimum age: the chat is open to users who are at least 14 years old.

= Rules of the chat rooms =

Rooms with adult or sexual content, the exchange of copyrighted files, any content that may harm minors or the privacy of others, and any other illegal activity are not allowed. AmicaChat may close rooms that break these rules. The full rules are in the AmicaChat terms and privacy policy linked below.

== External services ==

This plugin connects to the AmicaChat chat service, operated by AmicaChat.net, to let visitors enter a chat room.

No data is sent when a page with the form is viewed. Data is sent only when a visitor fills in the form and presses the button: the browser then opens https://amicachat.net/entra and sends the chosen nickname, the chat room name and the acceptance of the terms. As with any link to a website, the browser also sends the visitor's IP address and the address of the referring site.

The plugin does not store any visitor data on your site and does not send any data about your site or its administrators.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Is the chat free? =

Yes. AmicaChat is a free chat with no registration and no subscription.

= Can I use a chat room just for my site? =

Yes. Enter the room name in the settings, or use the shortcode attribute, for example `[amicachat room="MyRoom"]`. Letters, numbers, _ and - are allowed, up to 31 characters.

= Can I use different settings in different places? =

Yes. Every shortcode attribute overrides the general settings, for example `[amicachat width="100%" corners="square" shadow="no"]`. The full list of attributes is on the settings page.

= Does the plugin work with the block editor? =

Yes. Add a Shortcode block and type `[amicachat]`. In block themes without widget areas, use the shortcode in your templates.
