Automatically show prices in each visitor's local currency inside posts and pages. No WooCommerce, account, or API key required.

== Description ==

= Show every reader a price they understand =

AutoCurr automatically shows prices in the visitor's local currency inside WordPress posts and pages. Enter the original price once. AutoCurr keeps that source price visible and adds the localized amount when conversion is available.

Built for publishers who write about prices, including travel blogs, affiliate and review sites, guides, resource sites, and international publications. WooCommerce is not required, no AutoCurr account is needed, and no API key is required by default. AutoCurr displays content prices; it does not process checkout or payments.

= AutoCurr Free includes =

* Automatic visitor currency detection using available country or regional locale information
* Automatic currency conversion
* Original price remains visible
* Broad supported fiat currency coverage
* Simple [autocurr] shortcode
* Seven-day successful exchange-rate caching
* Graceful fallback if conversion is unavailable
* No AutoCurr telemetry or analytics
* No WooCommerce required

= Add a price anywhere =

Use this shortcode in shortcode-enabled content:

[autocurr amount="26" currency="EUR"]

Readers see the original EUR 26 price together with a converted amount when a supported conversion is available. If their currency is already EUR, the price appears once.

= Need more control? =

AutoCurr Free is a complete standalone plugin. The separate AutoCurr Pro add-on provides a faster publishing workflow and more control over localized prices:

* Visual Gutenberg/RichText authoring
* Convert selected text into localized prices
* Reusable Price Library
* Localized price ranges
* Visitor currency switching
* Advanced display controls
* Localization rules
* Manual exchange rates
* Percentage markup
* 24-hour successful rate refresh

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= How does AutoCurr choose a visitor's currency? =

Available hosting/CDN country information is preferred where supported. The browser's regional locale can be used as a fallback. If no supported target currency is determined, the original price remains visible.

= What happens if currency conversion is unavailable? =

The original price remains visible. AutoCurr does not replace it with an incorrect conversion. This also applies when JavaScript is unavailable or the site's REST API cannot be reached.

= How often are exchange rates updated? =

Free caches successful exchange rates for seven days. Pro reduces this to 24 hours. A new lookup happens when a rate is needed after its cache expires; these are not real-time rates.

= Does AutoCurr track visitors? =

AutoCurr Free contains no telemetry or analytics. Exchange-rate requests are made server-side, and visitor IP addresses are not forwarded to rate providers. Providers can see the website server's outbound IP address and the AutoCurr version in the request's User-Agent. AutoCurr does not call an external geolocation service.

= What does AutoCurr Pro add? =

Pro adds visual publishing tools, reusable prices, visitor currency switching and additional display and rate controls. See https://autocurr.com/ for details.

== External Services ==

AutoCurr uses Frankfurter v2 to retrieve reference exchange rates when a conversion is required and no fresh cached rate is available. Requests are made server-side and include the requested source and target currency codes. AutoCurr does not send price amounts, post content, or the visitor's IP address to Frankfurter. As with any server request, Frankfurter can see the website server's outbound IP address.

Site administrators can optionally configure Open Exchange Rates as a fallback when Frankfurter cannot return a rate. When enabled, AutoCurr sends the configured App ID and requests the provider's USD-based rate table. It does not forward visitor IP addresses, price amounts or post content. Open Exchange Rates can see the website server's outbound IP address. Both services receive an AutoCurr/version User-Agent.
