Bring God's Word to every visitor. A complete, interactive Bible for your WordPress site, with unlimited reading on every plan, on your own domain.

== Description ==

Share God's Word alongside your products and services. BibleBridge integrates a complete, interactive Bible into your WordPress site as a meaningful witness to every visitor. Your domain, your name, your readers. Built for Christian businesses, ministries, churches, and Bible bloggers.

No YouVersion links. No BibleGateway iframes. Just Scripture, fully on your site.

**What makes it different**

BibleBridge is one consistent Bible, not four separate tools bolted together.

* Everything stays on your domain, under your name and logo. No accounts, no ads, no tracking for your visitors
* Switch translations once and reading and search both follow: nothing to reconfigure
* Scripture Atlas: explore how Bible themes connect across seven hand-illustrated regions. The map is visible on every plan; exploring the connections is a Pro feature
* Cross-references chosen for how they fit the passage, not just shared words, so study time goes to real connections instead of noise (Pro feature)

**What's included**

* **Unlimited Bible reading**: both translations, every chapter, no daily cap
* **Auto-Tagging**: enable once and BibleBridge automatically finds scripture references in every post, adding hover tooltips with the verse text
* **Both KJV and Berean Standard Bible (BSB)**, public domain and included on every plan, no licensing fees, no paywall
* **Full-text search** with book filtering
* **Highlights, notes, and verse sharing**, with cloud sync across devices using a simple code - no account required
* **Dark mode** and a mobile layout
* **Scripture Atlas**: seven hand-illustrated regions connecting Bible topics through shared verses, from core doctrine to everyday Christian life. The map is visible on every plan; exploring the connections between passages requires Pro
* **Cross-references** (Pro): tap any verse to see related passages
* **Five reading plans** (Pro): Bible in a Year, NT in 90 Days, NT in a Year, Gospel of John, Psalms & Proverbs
* **Shortcodes** to embed Scripture anywhere on your site. Verse of the Day is free - for example: `[biblebridge_verse_of_the_day]`. Chapter/verse embeds and Scripture Atlas embeds require Pro.

**How it works**

1. Install and activate the plugin
2. Go to Settings → BibleBridge
3. Set your name (for example, "Grace Church Bible")
4. Your Bible is live at yoursite.com/bible

**Free tier**

The free tier includes both translations with unlimited reading, full-text search, the Scripture Atlas map, Auto-Tagging, and cloud sync - no ads, no tracking, no account wall. Cross-references, exploring Scripture Atlas connections, reading plans, and the chapter/verse/Scripture Atlas embed shortcodes require a paid plan. Upgrade anytime from **Settings → BibleBridge**.

The free tier is for personal, ministry, educational, and other non-commercial use. If your site sells products or services, a paid plan is required regardless of usage volume - see [Terms of Service](https://holybible.dev/terms) for details.

**Built on trust**

Every file ships as readable source. No obfuscation, no hidden build steps. You can see exactly what runs on your site.

**External Services**

Both included translations (KJV and BSB) ship as bundled files inside the plugin and are read directly from your server - no external request for ordinary chapter reading. The plugin relies on the BibleBridge API for everything bundled reading doesn't cover: search, cross-references, topic data, reading plans, Scripture Atlas, and Auto-Tagging.

The plugin connects to the following services hosted at holybible.dev:

* **BibleBridge API** (holybible.dev/api) - serves search, cross-references, topics, reading plan data, Scripture Atlas, and Auto-Tagging. On plugin activation, the plugin sends your site URL and site name to automatically provision a free API key. During normal use, visitor search queries and other API-backed features result in API calls that include the API key and requested reference. No personally identifiable information is collected or transmitted.
* **BibleBridge Sync** (holybible.dev/reader/sync.php) - provides optional cross-device sync for visitor highlights, notes, and reading progress. Sync is initiated by visitors using an anonymous code (no email or account required). No personally identifiable information is collected.
* **BibleBridge Verification Ping** (holybible.dev/api/verify-beacon) - on page load, the visitor's browser sends a small signed confirmation directly to BibleBridge, bypassing your WordPress installation. This includes the visitor's IP address and browser user-agent, logged only to verify that automated-traffic detection is working correctly. It is not linked to any personal information and is not used to track or profile individual visitors.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Is my visitors' data private? =

Yes. We don't collect personally identifiable information from visitors. No accounts, no tracking. One cookie remembers your visitor's translation choice - nothing else. Cloud sync uses an anonymous code - no email or password required. See the full [Privacy Policy](https://holybible.dev/privacy).

= Does this work out of the box? =

Yes. The plugin works immediately with no setup required. A free API key is automatically provisioned for your site on activation. To review your account status or upgrade, go to Settings → BibleBridge in your WordPress admin and claim your site from there.

= Who is this for? =

Christian businesses, ministries, and churches that want Scripture to feel native to their own website - not embedded from external tools or sent to other apps. For a business, it's a way to share God's Word alongside your products and services - a meaningful witness to every visitor.

= Is the free plan available for a commercial website? =

No. The free tier is for personal, ministry, educational, and other non-commercial use. If your site sells products or services, a paid plan is required regardless of how much traffic you get - see the [Terms of Service](https://holybible.dev/terms) for the full policy.

= What translations are included? =

King James Version (KJV) and Berean Standard Bible (BSB), both public domain. We don't currently offer NIV, ESV, or other modern translations since they require paid publisher licensing, and we'd rather keep every plan free of licensing fees and translation paywalls than gate certain versions behind them.

= Does it slow down my site? =

No. All styles, scripts, and both included translations are bundled with the plugin, so chapter reading never leaves your server. Only search and a few other features call the API on demand. No heavy assets or database tables are added to your site.

= Can visitors sync across devices? =

Yes. Cloud sync uses a simple code (like "GRACE-4821") - no email or password needed. Highlights, reading progress, and plan completion sync automatically.

= Can I customize the URL? =

Yes. By default the reader lives at `/bible` but you can change this in Settings → BibleBridge.

= Does it work with my theme? =

The reader uses its own full-page template and includes safeguards to prevent most styling conflicts. It's actively tested against real installations of popular free WordPress themes and page builders, not just checked in isolation, and works without issue in the large majority of cases.

Some themes or plugins apply aggressive global styles - such as button or link hover effects - that can occasionally show up in the reader. If you notice anything unexpected, try temporarily switching themes to confirm the source, or contact support with a screenshot and we'll help resolve it.

= Will bots consume my quota? =

BibleBridge includes server-side protections designed to identify and limit abusive automated traffic. Bible reading is unlimited and unaffected either way - these protections mainly help preserve your daily allowance for search and other API-backed features from bot and scraper traffic.

= Does BibleBridge affect my site's SEO? =

BibleBridge does not alter your site's existing pages or their SEO metadata; it only adds new routes for the Bible reader. Chapter reading is served locally and unaffected by quota. If a metered feature like search hits its daily limit, it returns 429 Too Many Requests with a Retry-After header to signal that the interruption is temporary.
