Edit content once and update it across your WordPress site. Reuse announcements, contact details and calls to action with Blocks.

== Description ==

**Change your content once and update every place that uses it.** Blocks gives your announcements, calls to action and support notices a shared home in WordPress. Create a block, place it on your pages, then edit the original whenever the message changes.

Keep your phone number and address current across your site with site variables. Move a library of reusable content to another site with one export. Your content stays with you when you change themes or page builders.

= Spend less time on repeated edits =

* **Update every placement from one editor.** Reuse a block in pages, posts, widgets and supported builders with a shortcode such as `[block id="42"]`.
* **Keep contact details consistent.** Use tokens such as `{{blocks:phone}}`, `{{blocks:email}}` and `{{blocks:year}}` for values you manage in one place.
* **Bring your content to your next site.** Export blocks and variables as one JSON file, then import them with a choice to keep or overwrite matching blocks.
* **Find the block you need.** Organize your library with categories and tags, and use the native Block element in your editor or supported page builder.

= Put reusable content to work =

Turn a block into an announcement banner or popup. Choose when a popup appears and how long a dismissed notice stays hidden. Optional content types let you manage FAQs, feature lists, a glossary and release notes.

Blocks includes integrations for Gutenberg, Elementor, Divi, Bricks, Beaver Builder, WPBakery, Oxygen, Breakdance, Zion, Thrive and Fusion (Avada). You can also place its shortcode wherever WordPress processes shortcodes.

== Installation ==

1. In WordPress, go to **Plugins > Add New** and search for "Blocks".
2. Click **Install Now**, then **Activate**.
3. Open **Blocks > Add New**, write your content and publish it.
4. Copy the block's shortcode and add it where the content should appear.

For a ZIP installation, go to **Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin**, select your Blocks ZIP, install it and activate it.

Blocks requires WordPress 6.2 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. Follow the [getting started guide](https://renzojohnson.com/contributions/blocks#how-it-works) for editor and builder examples.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= How do I update content in several places? =

Edit the source block under **Blocks**. Every placement using its shortcode or native builder element displays the updated published content.

= Can I use Blocks with my page builder? =

Yes. Use the native Block element in a supported builder or place a shortcode such as `[block id="42"]` in a module that processes WordPress shortcodes. See the [builder guide](https://renzojohnson.com/contributions/blocks#builder-how-to).

= How do site variables work? =

Store a value once and use its token, such as `{{blocks:phone}}`, inside your blocks, popups or banners. Enable "resolve variables everywhere" to use tokens in regular content and supported widget or builder text too. Read the [site variables guide](https://renzojohnson.com/contributions/blocks#variables).

= Can I move blocks to another site? =

Yes. Export your blocks and variables from **Import / Export**, then import the JSON file on the other site. Matching blocks are kept unless you choose to overwrite them. See the [import and export guide](https://renzojohnson.com/contributions/blocks#export-import).

= What happens when I move a block to Trash? =

The block stops appearing on the public site. You can restore it from the Trash view. Draft, pending and private blocks also stay out of public shortcode output.

= Where can I get help? =
