BriefWing

A "Summarize with AI" dropdown and a "Prefer on Google" button for any post type. Both are plain links: no script, no cookie, no consent needed. Data only reaches a service once a visitor clicks.

Buttons

AI services

Drag the rows to reorder them. "Search field" means the service behaves like a search box rather than a prompt box, so it receives the short prompt. {prompt} in a URL is replaced by the encoded prompt.

Google Gemini is missing on purpose. It has no working URL prefill, so a link there opens an empty window for most people. Google AI Mode takes its place: same mechanics as a search field, and it does accept a prompt.

Order Active Label URL template Search field Position
Pro

Freely defined services with their own name, URL template and icon are planned for the Pro version. Until then the URL templates above can be edited, and developers can register services with the wpais_provider_defaults filter.

Prompt

The prompt is public and it is an instruction to somebody else's system.

It travels in the link, so anyone can read it, and it lands in an AI service that is not yours. Do not use it to inject harmful code, to smuggle hidden instructions past a reader, or to talk a model into false statements about people, products or competitors. Prompts of that kind can breach the terms of the service, and misleading claims about your own site can be an unfair business practice.

Write what a fair summary needs: stay with the content of the page, no invented figures, no instruction that pushes a model towards judging in your favor.

Prefer on Google

Placement

Shortcodes for manual placement

A position is set to "Nowhere automatically". Use one of these shortcodes to place that button yourself.

Both buttons [briefwing]
Summarize with AI only [briefwing buttons="ai"]
Prefer on Google only [briefwing buttons="prefer"]

Every shortcode also takes style, scheme, size, align, variant and class, for example [briefwing buttons="ai" style="outline" size="sm"]. Attributes left out fall back to the settings.

Summarize with AI

Opens the chosen service in a new tab with a ready-made prompt.

Prefer on Google

The preview reacts to style, scheme, size, alignment, colors and font. Hover both buttons to judge the hover state. The links lead nowhere here.

Advanced

Pro in preparation

The free version stays as it is: two buttons, no tracking, no account. These are the features being built on top of it.

Inline AI summary

A summary written straight into the page instead of a link to an external tool. Readers stay where they are, and search engines see the text.

TL;DR boxes

A short box above the article with the key points, styled like the buttons and ready for a long read.

Floating features

More out of the floating rail: reading progress, share targets, back to top, and a rail that reacts to scrolling.

Your own AI services

Add any number of services with their own name, URL template and icon, straight from the settings screen.

Markdown generator

A clean Markdown version of every entry, the format language models read best, plus a copy button for it.

What the plugin does

People no longer only search, they ask. They copy an address into ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Grok or Google AI Mode and have the page explained to them. This plugin puts that step where it belongs: on the page itself, with a prompt you wrote, instead of leaving it to whatever a reader types.

The second button asks Google to prefer this source in a reader's own results. It is a one-off setting on their side, and it only costs them a click.

What you get out of it

  • You set the frame. The prompt says: stay with the page, invent no figures, name the source. That is the difference between a summary and a guess.
  • A signal that this site is meant to be read by machines as well, which is what AI visibility, or GEO, is about.
  • Loyal readers can tell Google to favor your source, once, in one click.
  • No tracking, no cookies, no third party request before a click, so no consent banner grows because of this plugin.

Privacy in one paragraph

The buttons are links. Nothing is loaded from a third party until somebody clicks, and no cookie is set. On the click the reader's IP address and the prompt reach the service they picked. That deserves one sentence in your privacy notice, and the README carries a wording you can copy.
