Show the free CheckShop trust mark and your latest reviews on your WooCommerce store, and invite customers to review your shop.

== Description ==

[CheckShop](https://checkshop.eu) checks online shops so buyers can see whether a shop is safe to buy from. Every shop gets a public profile with a score. CheckShop runs 25 checks in four groups: who is behind the shop, safety, buying and returns, and technical details. It looks up the VAT number in the EU VIES register and asks Google Web Risk about malware and phishing. Every shop is checked again each week.

This plugin brings that profile to your WooCommerce store.

= Trust mark, free for every shop =

* Shows your CheckShop trust mark with your score and reviews. It links to your profile on checkshop.eu.
* Works with only your shop's domain. You do not need an account or an API key for it.
* Floating in a corner of the page, below the checkout form, or wherever you place it with the "CheckShop trust mark" block, the widget or the `[checkshop_badge]` shortcode.
* Works with the classic checkout and the block checkout.
* Uses the official CheckShop badge script, so the mark always shows your current score.
* Eleven styles: card, horizontal, slim bar, minimal, round, bubble, sticker, star row, and three page-wide styles: a header strip, a side tab and a bottom bar.
* A live preview on the settings page shows the chosen style, size and theme before you save.

On the Free plan CheckShop shows the default card. With a paid plan (Starter and up) the style, size and dark theme you choose in the settings are applied too. The preview on the settings page shows every style, marked "Preview", so you can see what a plan would give you.

= Latest reviews, free for every shop =

* Shows the latest reviews of your shop on CheckShop, with stars, the reviewer's name and a "Verified" mark for verified purchases, plus links to all reviews and to write one.
* Place it with the "CheckShop reviews" block, the "CheckShop reviews" widget or the `[checkshop_reviews]` shortcode.
* Choose the number of reviews (1 to 12), the minimum rating, a light or dark theme, your own title and a compact layout.
* The built-in texts follow your site's language (English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Polish, Danish).

= Review invitations =

* After an order is completed, CheckShop e-mails the customer a link to review your shop.
* Choose how many days to wait, from 0 to 30.
* Each order shows whether the invitation is scheduled, sent or refused, with the reason CheckShop gave.
* A "Send invitation now" button on the order screen.

Review invitations are included from the Starter plan (25 a month) and are unlimited from Pro. This plugin sends them with your shop's API key, and API access comes with the Pro plan and up. CheckShop's server decides what your plan allows; if it refuses an invitation, the plugin shows its answer on the order.

= Plans =

== Installation ==

1. In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New, search for "CheckShop" and click Install, then Activate. WooCommerce must be active.
2. Go to WooCommerce > Settings > CheckShop.
3. Check the shop domain. By default the plugin uses your site's own domain; change it if your shop is listed on CheckShop under a different domain.
4. Choose where the trust mark shows. Save.
5. For review invitations: paste your API key from your [CheckShop dashboard](https://checkshop.eu/dashboard/badge), turn on "Send invitations", choose the number of days to wait and save. Click "Check connection" to test the key.

To place the trust mark yourself, add the "CheckShop trust mark" block, the "CheckShop trust mark" widget, or the `[checkshop_badge]` shortcode.

To show your latest reviews, add the "CheckShop reviews" block or widget, or the shortcode `[checkshop_reviews]`. The shortcode takes these optional attributes: `limit` (1 to 12, default 3), `min_rating` (1 to 5, default 4), `theme` (`light` or `dark`), `title` (your own heading; leave it out for CheckShop's heading in your visitor's language) and `compact` (`true` for shorter review texts). Example: `[checkshop_reviews limit="5" min_rating="4" theme="dark" title="What our customers say"]`.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I need a CheckShop account or API key for the trust mark? =

No. The trust mark only needs your shop's domain. You can claim your free profile on [checkshop.eu](https://checkshop.eu/claim) to manage it, reply to reviews and see your checks.

= What is the API key for? =

Only for review invitations. The plugin sends it with each invitation and with "Check connection". API access is part of the Pro plan and up.

= Why does the trust mark not show? =

The mark only shows for a domain that CheckShop knows. Check that the shop domain in the settings is the one on your CheckShop profile. On a local or staging site, enter your live shop's domain.

= Why does my trust mark look like the default card? =

On the Free plan CheckShop always shows the default card. Styles, sizes and the dark theme are part of the badge designer on the Starter plan and up.

= Can I show different styles in different places? =

No. One style, size and theme applies to every placement on the page. The header strip, side tab and bottom bar are page-wide: they take the place of the floating mark, and the block, widget, shortcode and checkout mark then show the card.

= Why does the preview show a style my shop does not show? =

The preview on the settings page shows every style, marked "Preview", so you can choose one. On the Free plan your shop shows the default card; the other styles, sizes and the dark theme need the Starter plan or higher. See [checkshop.eu/pricing](https://checkshop.eu/pricing).

= How do I show my latest reviews? =

Add the "CheckShop reviews" block or widget, or the `[checkshop_reviews]` shortcode. It is free and needs no API key. It shows approved reviews of the shop domain set under WooCommerce > Settings > CheckShop, once CheckShop has checked and listed your shop. Until there are reviews with the minimum rating, it shows links to your profile and to write a review.

= An order says "Invitation not sent". What now? =

The box on the order shows the reason CheckShop gave, for example that your plan does not include API access or that the monthly limit is reached. Fix the cause and click "Send invitation now".

= Does the plugin send the same customer more than one invitation? =

The plugin sends one invitation per order. CheckShop also skips customers or orders it already invited.

= What happens when I delete the plugin? =

Its settings are removed and pending invitations are cancelled. Order notes and the invitation status on existing orders stay, as part of the order history.

== External services ==

This plugin connects to CheckShop (checkshop.eu), run by the makers of this plugin, in four ways.

1. Trust mark. On pages that show the trust mark, the visitor's browser loads the script https://checkshop.eu/badge/v1/loader.js and then fetches the public badge data (name, score, review count and rating) for your shop's domain from https://checkshop.eu/api/v1/badge/{your-domain}. This happens on every page view where the mark is shown, so the score is always current. What is sent: your shop's domain, plus what any browser sends when it loads a file from another website (the visitor's IP address, browser user agent and the page address as referrer). No order or customer data is sent. Turn off the floating mark and the checkout mark, and do not use the block, widget or shortcode, to stop these requests.

2. Latest-reviews widget. On pages with the "CheckShop reviews" block, widget or `[checkshop_reviews]` shortcode, the visitor's browser loads the script https://checkshop.eu/reviews/v1/loader.js and then fetches your shop's latest approved reviews (shop name, reviewer names, ratings, titles, texts and dates) from https://checkshop.eu/api/v1/reviews/widget/{your-domain}?limit={number}&minRating={stars}. What is sent: your shop's domain and the number of reviews and minimum rating you chose, plus what any browser sends when it loads a file from another website (IP address, user agent, referrer). No order or customer data is sent. Remove the block, widget and shortcode to stop these requests.

3. Settings preview. When you open WooCommerce > Settings > CheckShop, your browser loads https://checkshop.eu/badge/v1/loader.js and fetches the public badge data for the shop domain from https://checkshop.eu/api/v1/badge/{your-domain}, to show a preview of the trust mark. It sends the same as the trust mark above, from your own browser, and only on that settings page.

4. Review invitations. Only when "Send invitations" is on and an API key is entered: for each completed order, after the delay you choose (or when you click "Send invitation now"), your WordPress site sends the customer's name, e-mail address and order number, with your API key, to https://checkshop.eu/api/v1/invitations. CheckShop uses them to e-mail the customer a link to review your shop. When you click "Check connection", your site sends your API key to https://checkshop.eu/api/v1/verify to see which shop and plan it belongs to.

== Changelog ==

= 1.2.0 =
* New: show your latest CheckShop reviews with the "CheckShop reviews" block, the "CheckShop reviews" widget or the `[checkshop_reviews]` shortcode (number of reviews, minimum rating, theme, title, compact layout). Free on every plan.
* New: live preview of the trust mark on the settings page, which follows the style, size and theme you choose. It says when a style needs a paid plan.
* New styles: header strip, side tab and bottom bar.
* The suggested privacy policy text now mentions the reviews widget.

= 1.1.1 =
* Admin notices now only appear on the screen where you can act on them.

= 1.1.0 =
* Renamed to "CheckShop" for the WordPress.org plugin directory.
* Every placement now uses the official CheckShop badge script. The old floating mark loaded a page that no longer exists, and the inline marks used an outdated design.
* The trust mark works with only your shop's domain, without an API key. The domain defaults to your site's own domain.
* New settings for style, size, theme and corner of the trust mark.
* New "CheckShop trust mark" block in the block inserter.
* The checkout mark now also shows on the block checkout and stays in place when the classic checkout refreshes.
* Review invitations use the CheckShop invitations API and are scheduled with Action Scheduler. The plugin shows CheckShop's own answer when an invitation is refused.
* On new installs, review invitations are off until you turn them on.
* "Check connection" shows the shop and plan the API key belongs to.
* Deleting the plugin removes its settings.
* Removed the "Write a review" box on the customer's order page; CheckShop e-mails the review link.

= 1.0.0 =
