DraftSync Lite Documentation

DraftSync Lite is a free, self-hosted draft editor for WordPress. It stores draft content, comments, version history, and active editor presence inside the WordPress installation.

Getting Started

  1. Activate DraftSync Lite from the WordPress Plugins screen.
  2. Open Settings > DraftSync Lite and choose which post types can use the editor.
  3. Open a supported post and choose Use DraftSync Lite from the block editor panel or sidebar metabox.
  4. Write in the local editor, then use Update WordPress or Publish when the draft is ready.

Included Features

Permissions

DraftSync Lite uses WordPress capabilities. If a user can edit a post in WordPress, that user can open the DraftSync Lite editor for the post. Publishing and trash actions still require the matching WordPress capabilities.

Switching Back

The Use WordPress Editor action syncs the latest DraftSync Lite content into the WordPress post and disconnects the local editor for that post. Existing DraftSync Lite history and comments are retained as post metadata.

Pro Edition

DraftSync Pro is distributed separately and adds invite-only drafts, granular editorial roles, suggested edits, draft chat, visual markup, workflow approvals, notifications, Slack alerts, and activity reports. Those premium modules are not included in DraftSync Lite.
