Creating word lists

Every crossword and word search starts from the same simple ingredient: a list of words and their hints.

Open EV Puzzles SettingsGenerate to reach the Word List section. A word list is just one word per line, separated from its hint by two semicolons:

ITALY;;Country shaped like a boot
PASTA;;Made from wheat and water

You can build this list three different ways:

1. Type it yourself

Just type or paste directly into the word list textarea, one WORD;;hint pair per line. No AI involved at all.

2. Generate it from a prompt

  1. Describe the topic you want words about (e.g. “10 words about Italian cuisine”) in the generation box.
  2. Click Generate. The AI-suggested word list appears in the textarea, prefixed with a reminder to review it.
  3. Read through it before continuing — this is your one chance to fix a bad word or hint before it becomes part of a puzzle grid.

3. Generate it from one of your own articles

This is the fastest way to turn something you've already written into a puzzle: pick an existing post, and the AI pulls words and hints straight from its content instead of you writing a prompt.

Word list, not word count

The same word list can be used to generate both a crossword and a word search — you don't need to write it twice.
