Preview and change featured images for up to 50 posts or pages, with durable history and conflict-aware undo.

== Description ==

Featured Images: Edit & Undo does one focused job: change a small group of featured-image assignments and retain the original assignments for recovery.

* Searchable post/page selection and the native WordPress media picker.
* Filters for missing or assigned images, category and inclusive content dates.
* Thumbnail previews before any changes are applied.
* Set, replace or remove an assignment without deleting media or changing article content.
* Database transactions keep assignments and recovery records together.
* Undo skips later image edits, unavailable images and active editor locks.
* Persistent batch history and JSON recovery-record export.
* Administrator-only controls, per-post permissions and nonce-protected operations.
* No external requests, telemetry, visitor scripts, AI account or paid dependency.

Single-site WordPress with PHP 8.1+, the standard WordPress database driver and InnoDB tables is required. Batches are limited to 50 items from one selection page. SQLite, multisite, custom post types and custom database-routing layers are unsupported.

Keep the plugin active while you need undo. Reactivation makes old records export-only. Deletion removes all plugin history but leaves posts, media and image assignments intact. Direct database edits bypassing WordPress hooks cannot always be detected. Third-party external side effects cannot be rolled back. Read README.md for full recovery and compatibility guidance.

== Installation ==

1. Back up your site and test on staging, then upload the plugin ZIP through Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin.
2. Activate Featured Images: Edit & Undo.
3. Open AI Plugin Factory > Featured Images as an administrator.
4. Select posts/pages, choose the change and review the preview before applying.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Where do I find the plugin and its guide? =
Open AI Plugin Factory > Featured Images. The shared menu lists only active AI Plugin Factory tools. Read the illustrated [product guide](https://aipluginfactory.com/featured-image-undo/) for the preview, apply and undo workflow.

= Do I need an account or activation key? =
No. All included features run locally without registration, activation keys or usage reporting. There is no trial expiry. The 50-item batch size is a processing limit, not a paid usage allowance; you can run additional batches.

= Does it delete images? =
No. Removal clears only the featured-image assignment. The original media stays in the library.

= Can undo overwrite a later edit? =
Normal WordPress image changes are tracked. Undo skips a row when its current image or tracked revision differs from the batch result. Direct SQL edits bypassing WordPress hooks cannot always be detected.

= What happens if the request is interrupted? =
An unfinished database transaction rolls back. If the response is lost after commit, refresh history to check the saved result. Reapplying a completed batch does not repeat changes.

= What data is stored? =
Your local WordPress database stores batch identifiers, administrator user IDs, timestamps, selected post/image IDs and recovery states. The plugin sends none of this data externally. Exported JSON contains those same fields.

= What happens on deactivation or deletion? =
Deactivation retains history. Reactivation starts a new tracking period and makes old records export-only. Deleting the plugin removes its history and tracking data permanently without modifying posts or media.
