Create SEO metadata, Open Graph output, and import metadata from supported SEO plugins.

== Description ==

FFAS Metadata - SEO & Open Graph gives administrators control over the metadata that search engines and social platforms read from a WordPress site.

Use the site-wide settings to define fallback descriptions and keywords, Open Graph values, a default sharing image, canonical URL behaviour, robots directives and X/Twitter Card details. Posts, pages and supported public custom post types can store their own meta description, keywords and index/follow choices through WordPress editor fields.

= Metadata output =

The plugin can output:

* Standard meta descriptions and optional meta keywords.
* Open Graph title, description, URL, site name, locale, content type and image values.
* X/Twitter Card metadata, including summary, large-image, player and app card fields.
* Canonical URLs and index/noindex or follow/nofollow directives.
* WooCommerce Product structured data when WooCommerce and a valid product are available.

When a supported SEO plugin is active, FFAS Metadata pauses its front-end metadata output to avoid duplicate descriptions, robots directives and social metadata.

= Editor controls =

The plugin registers metadata fields for posts, pages and public custom post types that use the WordPress editor. Content editors can provide a custom meta description and keywords and can choose index/noindex and follow/nofollow values for individual content items. Empty fields use the configured site-wide values or WordPress content fallbacks.

= Metadata analysis =

Administrators can inspect the metadata and Open Graph markup returned by a URL. The checker makes an outbound HTTP request only when an administrator runs the check and displays the detected values and recommendations in the dashboard.

= Importing from another SEO plugin =

The importer supports metadata created by:

* Yoast SEO and Yoast SEO Premium.
* Rank Math SEO and Rank Math SEO PRO.
* All in One SEO (AIOSEO) and AIOSEO Pro.
* SEOPress and SEOPress PRO.

For supported public content types, the importer can copy meta descriptions, index/noindex values and follow/nofollow values. It does not import every setting or feature from the source plugin.

Before making changes, select the source plugin and content types and run the import preview. Choose whether to fill only empty FFAS Metadata fields or overwrite existing matching values. Imports run in batches, unfinished imports can be resumed, and the most recently completed import can be undone.

The source SEO plugin must be deactivated before starting an import. Previewing is allowed while it remains active. Keep a current database backup before any bulk migration.

= Settings portability =

The Export / Import screen downloads the plugin settings as JSON for backup or migration to another WordPress installation. It does not export post metadata or generated front-end markup.

== Installation ==

1. Install the ZIP through Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, or copy the plugin directory into `/wp-content/plugins/`.
2. Activate FFAS Metadata - SEO & Open Graph.
3. Open FFAS Metadata - SEO & Open Graph in the WordPress dashboard.
4. Configure the site-wide description, Open Graph, X/Twitter Card, canonical and robots defaults that your site needs.
5. Edit a post, page or supported public custom post type to add content-specific metadata where required.
6. If migrating from another SEO plugin, preview the detected metadata, deactivate the source plugin, create a database backup and then start the import.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Which SEO plugins can I import from? =

The importer recognises Yoast SEO, Rank Math SEO, All in One SEO (AIOSEO) and SEOPress, including their listed premium variants. It imports supported values already stored in the WordPress database; it does not require an external migration service.

= What does the importer copy? =

It copies per-content meta descriptions, index/noindex values and follow/nofollow values for the public content types you select. It does not copy titles, schema graphs, redirects, sitemaps or every provider-specific setting.

= Must I deactivate my existing SEO plugin? =

You may preview while it is active, but you must deactivate it before starting an import. FFAS Metadata also pauses its own front-end metadata while a supported SEO plugin is active to reduce duplicate output.

= Will an import overwrite existing FFAS Metadata values? =

You choose. Fill empty fields only preserves existing values and is the recommended mode. Overwrite mode replaces matching FFAS Metadata fields with values from the selected source.

= Can I undo an import? =

The most recently completed import can be undone from the importer panel. A database backup is still recommended before every bulk migration.

= Does the plugin send data to FFAS? =

No. The plugin does not send analytics or metadata to the developer. When an administrator runs a metadata or Open Graph check, the WordPress server requests only the URL selected by that administrator. Settings exports are generated locally.
