Show a Dropbox or OneDrive folder on your site as a searchable file library, photo gallery or menu that updates when the folder changes.

== Description ==

FolderBloom turns a folder in your Dropbox or OneDrive into a polished section of your website: a searchable file library, a photo gallery, a slideshow, a before-and-after slider, a sortable table or a restaurant menu. When you add or replace a file in the folder, your website shows the new version after FolderBloom syncs — no re-uploading to WordPress.

This plugin adds one shortcode, `[folderbloom]`, so you can place a FolderBloom embed anywhere in WordPress: in a post or page, in a Shortcode block, in a widget, or in a page builder's shortcode element.

**You need a FolderBloom account to use this plugin.** You set up your folders and choose a layout at [folderbloom.com](https://folderbloom.com); publishing on a website requires a paid FolderBloom plan for that website. You can connect a folder and preview the result for free.

= What you can show =

* **File libraries** — list, compact list, cards or thumbnail grid, with search, sorting, document previews and downloads.
* **Photo galleries** — masonry or uniform grids, slideshows, before-and-after sliders, single images and logo carousels.
* **Spreadsheets** — an Excel or CSV file as a live, sortable table, a restaurant menu or a recipe.
* **Single-file buttons** — one file, or always the newest file in a folder, as a download button.
* **Private folders** — password-protected folders and invite-only client folders stay hidden until visitors are allowed in.

= Restaurant menus are part of your page =

When an embed is a restaurant menu, the plugin prints the menu straight into your page with schema.org Menu data, so search engines read it as part of your site. Add `inline="no"` to use the regular embed instead.

= Your files stay where they are =

FolderBloom reads your folder with read-only permission and never changes or deletes your files. Nothing is copied into your WordPress media library.

== Installation ==

1. In WordPress, go to **Plugins → Add New**, search for "FolderBloom Embed", then install and activate it. (Or upload the `folderbloom-embed` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/` and activate it.)
2. In your FolderBloom dashboard, open **Embeds** and copy the WordPress shortcode for the embed you want. It looks like `[folderbloom id="fb_abc123"]`.
3. Paste the shortcode into a post, page, Shortcode block or widget, and publish.

The website's domain must be the one set up for that embed in FolderBloom (www and non-www both work).

= Shortcode options =

* `id` (required) — the embed id from FolderBloom, starting with `fb_`.
* `title` — an accessible title for the embed.
* `height` — an initial height in pixels, to reduce layout shift while it loads.
* `inline="no"` — for restaurant menus, use the regular embed instead of printing the menu into the page.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I need a FolderBloom account? =

Yes. The plugin displays embeds you create at folderbloom.com. You can connect a folder and preview it for free; showing it on a website requires a FolderBloom plan for that website.

= Does this upload my files to WordPress? =

No. Your files stay in Dropbox or OneDrive. FolderBloom shows them on your page and keeps the page up to date when the folder changes.

= Can I use FolderBloom without this plugin? =

Yes. Every embed also has an HTML snippet you can paste into a Custom HTML block. The plugin makes it easier with a shortcode, and prints restaurant menus straight into your page.

= Does it work with page builders? =

Yes — use your builder's shortcode element (for example Elementor's Shortcode widget or a Divi Code module) and paste the shortcode.

= Can visitors download the original files? =

You decide in FolderBloom: downloads can be turned on or off per embed, and folders can be password-protected or limited to invited clients.

= I self-host FolderBloom. Can I point the plugin at my own server? =

Yes. Add `define( 'FOLDERBLOOM_APP_URL', 'https://your-server.example' );` to `wp-config.php`.

== External services ==

This plugin connects to **FolderBloom** (folderbloom.com), the service that hosts your embeds. It is required for the plugin to work; without it the shortcode shows nothing.

* **In visitors' browsers:** on pages that contain the `[folderbloom]` shortcode, the plugin loads FolderBloom's embed script from `https://folderbloom.com/embed.js`. The script then loads the embed (file list, gallery and so on) from folderbloom.com. Like any web request, this sends the visitor's IP address and browser details, plus the page address and the embed id, to folderbloom.com. Previews and downloads of files are served by folderbloom.com. FolderBloom does not set advertising or tracking cookies and does not store visitors' IP addresses with download statistics.
* **From your WordPress server:** when a page shows the shortcode, the plugin asks `https://folderbloom.com/api/public/menu/<embed id>` whether the embed is a restaurant menu, so it can print the menu into the page. Only the embed id is sent. The answer is cached for 5–10 minutes. The menu's HTML is filtered with WordPress's allowed-HTML rules; its styles are bundled with the plugin.
