Support Continued Development
Thanks for using Googlyzer! Googlyzer Basic was developed for distribution as open source software, purely with unpaid volunteer development hours. If you like this plugin, and would like to see us make additional enhancements, please consider making a donation!
Another way you can support further development of Googlyzer is to go to the Googlyzer plugin page in the WordPress Plugin directory and give it a rating. Ratings and feedback are always helpful, and we welcome both!
Googlyzer is granted access to your Domain data via the ClientLogin interface for installed applications with the Google API. The authentication method was changed in Googlyzer version 2.0 in order to provide broader web browser support and also enable the use of public-facing widgets within WordPress. Previously, Googlyzer used the AuthSub security interface, which required an additional validation step (re-direction to a Google authentication web page) which resulted in a fair amount of confusion and authentication-related issues.
Once a user completes Google Service authentication, Googlyzer stores an authentication token which it uses for all subsequent Google data requests. If Store Google Credentials is enabled, Googlyzer will also store your Google login credentials. This is the default, and HIGHLY recommended setting. Each Google ClientLogin authentication token expires after approximately 2 weeks. If you choose to allow Googlyzer to store your Google login credentials, Googlyzer will automatically detect token expiration and renew as required. If you choose not to allow Googlyzer to store your Google login credentials, the Googlyzer Dashboard and Widgets will return errors once the authentication token has expired and you will be required to return to this settings tab and re-authenticate with Google in order to re-enable Googlyzer.
Authentication with Google can easily be revoked, by simply clicking Logout within the Google Service Authentication area on the Googlyzer General Settings tab. Googlyzer Basic creates a Googlyzer Dashboard menu item under the WordPress Dashboard menu where the Googlyzer Dashboard can be accessed, and if selected, also creates a widget that appears on the WordPress Home Dashboard. As such, Googlyzer Basic data is only available for viewing by users with administrative access to your WordPress site.
- Download the Googlyzer archive, then extract the Googlyzer directory to your WordPress plugins directory (generally ../wordpress/wp-content/plugins/).
- Go to the Plugins page of your WordPress admin console and activate the Googlyzer plugin.
- Once activated, go to the Googlyzer General Settings tab, via the WordPress Settings menu.
- On the Googlyzer General Settings tab, enter your Google account credentials in the Google Service Authentication section.
- Enable the Store Google Credentials checkbox to allow Googlyzer to save your Google login credentials (recommended).
- Click the login button in the Google Service Authentication section.
- Once Google Service authentication is successfully completed, several changes should be visible. First, the Status field within the Google Service Authentication section will change to "Authenticated." Second, an authentication token will appear in the read-only field in the General Settings section, as well as your login and hidden password if you selected Store Google Credentials. Third, the Domain dropdown will populate with available Domain selections associated with your Google account.
- Select your desired Domain, modify other settings as desired, and click on Save Settings.
That completes the basic setup. If desired, visit the other tabs (GA Tracking Code, Composite Chart, Line Charts, Pie Charts, and Tables) on the Googlyzer Options page in order to further customize your Googlyzer dashboard settings.
After saving settings, you can view the Googlyzer Dashboard by clicking the Googlyzer Dashboard link in the Dashboard section of the WordPress Admin Console, or go to the WordPress Home Dashboard to view the Googlyzer Home Dashboard widget.
Should you wish to revoke access for Googlyzer to your Google Analytics website data, simply click on Logout in the Google Service Authentication section on the General Settings tab. NOTE, once Google Analytics access is revoked, Googlyzer can no longer populate the dashboard or widgets, as the data is not cached locally.
