Automatically compress JPEG, PNG and GIF images on upload. Bulk optimize your media library, keep backups, and track savings per image.

== Description ==

JaziTech Image Compressor automatically compresses your images when you upload them to WordPress — no API key, no external service, no monthly fees. Everything happens on your own server using the PHP GD library.

**Free features:**

* **Auto-compress on upload** — JPEG, PNG and GIF files are compressed the moment they are uploaded, before WordPress generates thumbnails.
* **Adjustable quality** — set JPEG quality from 1 to 100 (default 82, a great balance of size and quality).
* **Strip EXIF / metadata** — remove embedded metadata from images for smaller files and more privacy.
* **Backup originals** — keep a backup copy of every original image and restore it any time from the Media Library.
* **Bulk optimize** — compress all existing images in your media library with AJAX batch processing and a live progress bar.
* **Savings column** — the Media Library shows original size, compressed size and percentage saved for every image.
* **Max dimensions** — optionally resize oversized images on upload.

**Privacy:** This plugin does not phone home. It sends no data anywhere — all compression happens locally on your server using PHP GD.

Want more? **JaziTech Pro** adds WebP & AVIF conversion, scheduled background optimization, unlimited priority bulk processing and a global image CDN. See Settings → Go Pro inside the plugin.

== Installation ==

2. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress.

Requires the PHP GD extension (enabled on virtually all WordPress hosts).

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Will this work without an API key? =

Yes. Unlike many image optimizers, this plugin compresses images locally on your server with PHP GD. No account, no API key, no usage limits.

= Will it slow down my uploads? =

Compression adds a fraction of a second per image on typical hosting. Bulk optimization processes images in small batches so it never times out.

= Can I restore the original images? =

Yes — if "Keep backup of originals" is enabled (the default), every original is backed up before compression. Use the "Restore original" link in the Media Library list.

= Does it convert to WebP? =

WebP and AVIF conversion are Pro features. The free version compresses JPEG, PNG and GIF in their original formats.

= Does the plugin send my images anywhere? =

No. All processing happens on your own server. The plugin makes zero external requests.
