Manage glossary terms and synonyms with tooltips, optional automatic term links, and native WordPress, Gutenberg, and Elementor integration.

== Description ==

MKB Glossar provides glossary terms, optional automatic links within supported content and accessible tooltips for the resulting links.

Features include:

* Dedicated WordPress glossary term management, including short definitions and synonyms.
* Shortcode, Gutenberg block, and optional Elementor widget for glossary overviews.
* Enable or disable the three Elementor widgets separately; existing installations keep all enabled until changed.
* Automatic linking with per-content and per-term limits, off by default.
* Protected HTML contexts to avoid nested links and changes to existing links or code.
* Language-aware terms, URL bases and overview output when supported language providers are installed.
* Adjustable tooltip presentation with keyboard and touch behavior.
* Built-in, offline-accessible handbook and contextual explanations in the WordPress administrator.
* CSV import/export with preview, field mapping and conflict controls.
* Manual related terms and sources, optional external targets and case-sensitive recognition.
* Optional site-wide Elementor Free saved-container design for sources and related terms, with a native fallback.
* Structured Schema.org DefinedTerm data on published glossary entries (opt-out in settings).
* Server-side public searching with a configurable 1–200 terms per loading batch, including smaller glossaries when a batch limit is chosen.
* Central visual controls for references and related terms without Elementor, with clear theme inheritance and an illustrative preview.
* Optional five-step getting-started guide: choose labels and a URL base, create content, build an overview, configure links and check appearance.
* A downloadable CSV example using the same columns as the complete glossary export.
* Separate glossary search field with live suggestions and direct term navigation for WordPress sidebars, Elementor Free and shortcodes.
* When live suggestions are disabled, the standalone search remains a native form without loading its JavaScript.
* Optional external-target symbol for glossary links that lead to another website; choose a built-in style or a custom image from the WordPress Media Library.
* Protected passages without automatic glossary links in Gutenberg, Elementor and the classic editor.

MKB Glossar works independently of Elementor, Polylang, WPML and MKB Managed. These integrations are optional.

== Human-readable source and development ==

All custom JavaScript and PHP used by the installed plugin is included as editable,
human-readable source inside this plugin package (assets/ and includes/).
The release does not ship separately compiled or obfuscated JavaScript bundles;
there are no additional build tools required to regenerate the shipped scripts.
Development architecture, security testing and release instructions are maintained
with the complete development source. This readme documents the shipped files
so reviewers and future maintainers can inspect them without private access.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does automatic linking start immediately? =

No. Automatic glossary links are disabled by default and can be enabled in the glossary settings.

= Do I need Elementor or a language plugin? =

No. WordPress can run the glossary on its own. Additional integrations are activated only if their host plugins are available.

= Is MKB Managed required? =

No. MKB Managed can coordinate future release processes but is not a runtime requirement for this free plugin.

= Can I still follow a glossary link on a touchscreen? =

Yes. The first tap displays the tooltip; a second tap on the same term follows its link.
