Connect your WordPress website to Mountain Post — AI-powered SEO autopilot that discovers topics, writes articles, and publishes automatically.

==Description==

**Mountain Post** is an AI-powered SEO automation platform. It discovers what your target audience is searching for, writes high-quality SEO articles, and publishes them on your website — automatically.

This plugin connects your WordPress website to your Mountain Post account. Once connected, Mountain Post can:

* Publish new articles directly to your WordPress blog
* Update existing articles
* Sync categories, tags, and featured images
* Write SEO titles and meta descriptions (compatible with Yoast SEO)

**Mountain Post requires a subscription.** Visit [mountainpost.io](https://mountainpost.io) to sign up.

= How it works =

1. Install this plugin on your WordPress website.
2. In Mountain Post, go to your website's Connection tab and generate a connection key.
3. In WordPress, go to **Settings → Mountain Post**, paste the key, and click **Connect**.

That's it — Mountain Post will now be able to publish to your website.

= Requirements =

* WordPress 5.6 or later
* HTTPS enabled on your website
* A Mountain Post account ([mountainpost.io](https://mountainpost.io))

= External services =

This plugin connects to **mountainpost.io**, a third-party service operated by BrendR. Specifically:

* When you connect the plugin, it sends your **site URL**, **WordPress username**, and a generated **API token** to mountainpost.io to register the connection. The token only allows creating and updating posts, tags, and reading categories — it does not grant admin access to your site.
* During content publication, mountainpost.io instructs the plugin to download featured images from external image URLs (provided by the Mountain Post service) and attach them to posts.
* If multilingual content is enabled, the plugin sets a **`mp_language` cookie** on site visitors to remember their language preference.

By using this plugin, you agree to the [Mountain Post Terms of Service](https://mountainpost.io/terms) and [Privacy Policy](https://mountainpost.io/privacy).

==Installation==

1. Upload the `mountain-post` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`.
2. Activate the plugin through the **Plugins** menu in WordPress.
3. Go to **Settings → Mountain Post** and follow the connection instructions.

==Frequently Asked Questions==

= Is Mountain Post free? =

Mountain Post requires a subscription. You can start a free trial at [mountainpost.io](https://mountainpost.io).

= Can I disconnect later? =

Yes. Go to **Settings → Mountain Post** and click **Disconnect**. This removes the stored connection token and stops Mountain Post from publishing to your website.

= Does this plugin work with Yoast SEO? =

Yes. When Mountain Post publishes an article, it also sets the Yoast SEO title and meta description fields.

==Changelog==

= 1.2.0 =
* Removed Application Password requirement. The plugin now connects using only a generated API token, eliminating the need for remote admin credentials. Existing installs with a stored Application Password will have it cleaned up automatically on reconnect.
* Removed Authorization header restoration block (LiteSpeed workaround) — no longer needed since connection no longer uses Basic Auth.
* Posts are now created with explicit post_author instead of using wp_set_current_user.

= 1.1.0 =
* Added custom REST API endpoints authenticated via X-Mountain-Post-Token header for compatibility with LiteSpeed and other servers that strip the Authorization header.
* Added featured image sideloading from Mountain Post-provided image URLs.
* Added multilingual support: language switcher appended to posts, cookie-based language persistence, and query-parameter language selection (?lang=nl).
* Added IndexNow integration for automatic URL submission to Bing after publication.

= 1.0.0 =
* Initial release.
