Preview text or logo watermarks and save new Media Library copies. Original images and existing posts stay unchanged.

== Description ==

Add a signature, copyright credit, or brand logo to your photographs without overwriting the source image. Peachfin Watermark Maker by [Peachfin Themes](https://peachfinthemes.com/) gives photographers, creators, and store owners a focused workspace under Media > Peachfin Watermark Maker:

1. Choose an original JPEG, PNG, or WebP image.
2. Add text, a transparent PNG logo, or both. Choose font, position, size, rotation, opacity, and edge spacing.
3. Check a server-rendered preview, then save a new Media Library copy.

The preview and export use the same rendering engine. Identical exports reuse the existing copy. Generated copies cannot be processed again, preventing accidental double watermarking.

Free includes combined text and logos, ten font choices, rotation, all nine positions, unlimited individual exports, basic batches of up to 50 images, and an optional default upload preset. Keep the tab open during a basic batch. No account, subscription, tracking, or external image service is required. All image processing happens on your WordPress server. Assets, including all ten fonts, are bundled locally.

The separately distributed [Peachfin Watermark Maker Pro add-on](https://peachfinthemes.com/peachfin-watermark-maker/) adds private saved presets, background batches of up to 500 images, pause/resume/retry controls, CSV result reports, up to four additional text/logo layers, repeated proof marks, and conditional upload rules. Pro is not required for the Free workflow.

= Important behavior =

This plugin creates new attachments. It does not replace images in existing posts. Automatic upload copies are off by default; an administrator can opt in under Automatic uploads. The scheduler creates separate copies for future uploads. Select the saved copy when adding an image to a post. Original URLs remain accessible; watermarks are attribution, not access control.

JPEG, static PNG, and static WebP are supported, subject to your server's image-engine format support. Animated files and SVG are not supported. Images must be local to this site's uploads directory and no larger than 24 megapixels, 8,000 pixels per side, or 20 MB. PNG logos must be no larger than 4 megapixels. Offloaded-only media must be restored locally first.

PHP GD with working FreeType is recommended. An Imagick text-rendering fallback is included. Server format support and resource limits still apply. Text uses ten bundled fonts, ranging from Lato and Libre Baskerville to Pacifico and Allura; they do not cover every writing system. For unsupported scripts, use a PNG logo. Image metadata such as EXIF/ICC is not preserved; use sRGB source images. Transparent PNG/WebP output is supported. JPEG/WebP output is re-encoded.

Deleting or deactivating the plugin does not delete images. Copies and originals remain in your Media Library.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= How do I upgrade from the Watermark Studio pre-release? =
Deactivate the old Free and Pro plugins first. Install and activate Peachfin Watermark Maker, then its matching Pro 0.2.8 add-on if you use Pro. The renamed plugin migrates existing settings, private templates, copy records, batches, and queued uploads. Originals and saved images remain in the Media Library. Do not run the old and renamed plugins together. Test the upgrade on staging first.

= Does this change my original image? =
No. Each export creates a new attachment. Existing posts are unchanged. An identical export reuses its existing copy.

= Does it prevent downloads or remove the public original? =
No. Original URLs remain accessible, and watermarked copies can still be downloaded.

= Can I restore an image? =
Your original is never overwritten. Choose it from your Media Library. You can delete an unwanted copy through the normal Media Library controls.

= Why do I need to update the preview? =
Previews update after you pause editing. Saving is enabled only after the current settings have rendered successfully, helping you avoid an unexpected watermark.

= Is processing sent to a third party? =
No. Images are rendered locally on your server. The plugin makes no external service calls.

= Can automatic copies run without an open tab? =
Yes, through WordPress cron. WordPress normally checks scheduled work when the site receives visits. Low-traffic sites should use a server cron. Server diagnostics show if WordPress cron is disabled. Automatic copies never replace originals in existing posts.

1. Preview a PNG logo watermark, choose its size and position, and save a separate copy while keeping your original unchanged.
2. Apply your current design to up to 50 original images in a basic batch while keeping the tab open.
3. Opt in to automatic watermarked copies for new uploads using a saved snapshot of your design.

== Source code ==

Human-readable JavaScript source is included directly in assets/studio.js, assets/navigation.js, and assets/tools.js (the Pro add-on also includes assets/pro.js). These are the files WordPress loads. There are no compiled/minified JavaScript bundles, external libraries, or build steps required to modify them. Stylesheet source is included in assets/studio.css.
