Pushover alerts for WordPress in 2 minutes: forms, WooCommerce, users and updates. Free, no add-ons needed.

== Description ==

PingPush sends your site's important events to the Pushover app on your phone, tablet or desktop. Enter two keys, tick the events you want, done. Every event comes with a sensible default message, so there is nothing to build.

**100% free. No Pro version, no paid add-ons, no upsells.** Forms and WooCommerce are included.

= WordPress events =

* New user registration
* New comment (spam is never sent; choose approved only or approved + pending), with a link to the comment
* Password reset requested
* Post published (any post type, including custom post types)
* Post status changed, e.g. submitted for review
* Successful login (administrators only, or all users)
* Failed login attempts (throttled per IP address)
* Plugin activated or deactivated
* User role changed
* Site emails failing to send
* Site errors (fatal error / recovery mode)
* Plugin, theme and core updates available (each new version reported once)

= Forms =

Contact Form 7, WPForms, Gravity Forms, Fluent Forms, Elementor Forms (Pro), Ninja Forms, Forminator and Formidable Forms. Each form plugin appears in settings as soon as it is active. You can limit alerts to specific form IDs.

= Ecommerce =

* WooCommerce: new order (with total, items and customer name), failed order, refund. Each order is reported once.
* Easy Digital Downloads: new purchase.

= Pushover features =

* Priority per event (lowest, low, normal, high)
* Sound per event
* Editable title and message templates with placeholders such as `{site_name}`, `{order_total}`, `{form_name}`, `{fields}` and `{field:email}`
* A link in each notification to the order, comment, entry or user
* "Validate keys" and "Send test notification" buttons
* A log of recent notifications with clear error messages, plus your remaining monthly Pushover quota

= Built not to slow your site =

Notifications are queued and sent in the background (Action Scheduler when available, otherwise WP-Cron). If Pushover is briefly unavailable, PingPush retries up to three times. Duplicate events are filtered out.

= For developers =

* **Custom hooks:** enter any WordPress action name and a message template, and PingPush notifies you when that action runs.
* Filters: `pingpush_should_send`, `pingpush_title`, `pingpush_message`, `pingpush_priority`, `pingpush_payload`.
* Register your own events with `PingPush_Events::register()` on the `pingpush_register_events` action, and send them with `PingPush_Events::trigger()`.

= Switching from "Pushover Notifications for WordPress"? =

PingPush is a maintained alternative. If the old plugin's settings are found, PingPush offers a one-click import of your keys and event choices.

PingPush is an independent plugin and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Pushover, LLC.

== External services ==

This plugin connects to the Pushover API (https://api.pushover.net), operated by Pushover, LLC, to deliver notifications. It is required for the plugin to work.

* **When:** each time an event you enabled happens, when you click "Validate keys" or "Send test notification".
* **What is sent:** your Pushover application token and user/group key, and the notification title, message, link and timestamp. Depending on the events and templates you choose, the message can include details such as a username, email address, order total, form field values or an IP address.
* Pushover Terms of Service: https://pushover.net/terms
* Pushover Privacy Policy: https://pushover.net/privacy

PingPush makes no other external requests and does not collect any usage data.

== Installation ==

1. Install and activate PingPush from Plugins > Add New.
2. Install the Pushover app and create an account at pushover.net.
3. Copy your User Key from your Pushover dashboard.
4. Create an application at https://pushover.net/apps/build and copy its API Token.
5. Open PingPush in the admin menu, paste both keys, click "Validate keys" and "Send test notification", then save.
6. Tick the events you want.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I need the Pushover app? =

Yes. Pushover is a separate service with apps for iOS, Android and desktop. It offers a free trial, then a one-time purchase per platform. Each Pushover account can send 10,000 messages a month for free.

= Is PingPush really free? =

Yes. Everything listed here is included. There is no Pro version and no paid add-ons.

= How is this different from other notification plugins? =

General notification builders ask you to create each notification by hand, and many charge for Pushover or WooCommerce support. PingPush only does Pushover, and does it in a couple of minutes: enter keys, tick events.

= Can several people get the alerts? =

Yes. Create a delivery group in Pushover and use its group key instead of your user key.

= I am not getting notifications. =

Open PingPush > Log in the admin menu. It shows each attempt and the exact error from Pushover. Also check that "Validate keys" succeeds and that WP-Cron runs on your site (if you set DISABLE_WP_CRON, make sure a real cron job calls wp-cron.php).

= Will I get flooded with alerts? =

No. Spam comments are skipped, failed logins are throttled per IP address, each order and each update version is reported once, and update alerts default to low priority.

= Does it work on membership or login-only sites? =

Yes. PingPush runs entirely in the background and in the admin; it does not depend on the public site.
