Everything you need to master the smart internal linking system for WordPress & WooCommerce β from first install to advanced styling.
FlowLinks automatically inserts a configurable "Related Content" block into your posts, pages, and, when WooCommerce is available, products. It applies the content types, exclusions, placement rules, ordering, and visual settings you choose so readers can discover more relevant content without manually adding every recommendation.
Insert relevant links inside your content with zero manual effort.
Decide exactly which post types can be linked from which source types.
Switch between beautiful card grids and compact lists in one click.
Independent ordering rules for products.
See exactly how the block will look before saving a single setting.
Nonce-protected actions, escaped output, lightweight queries.
The plugin ships with sensible defaults β PostβPost and ProductβProduct. You can turn it on and publish immediately, then refine later.
The Internal Links tab is where all the magic happens. It contains five major cards β General Settings, Content Type Matrix, Display Settings, Display Order, and Style & Colors β plus a Live Preview panel at the bottom.
The top row shows General Settings (left) and Content Type Matrix (right). Below them, Display Settings and Order & Selection sit side by side. The Style card and Live Preview span the full width.
Control activation, title and general internal-link display conditions.
Enable toggle β The master switch. Off means nothing is injected anywhere on the frontend.
Link Box Title β The heading that appears above your links (e.g. "You May Also Like", "Related Products").
Minimum Words to Display β If a post is shorter than this number of words, the box won't render. Set to 0 to always display.
Links per Box β How many items appear in each block. Range: 1β20. When the value is β€ 6 and the layout is "Card", all items fit into a single row.
Up to 500 items. Enter a post, page, or product ID or internal URL.
Excluded IDs are removed from the recommendation pool. The current page can still display its own box β FlowLinks always removes the source post from candidates automatically.
The matrix is a two-dimensional grid. Rows represent the source content type; columns represent the target content type. A checked cell means: "posts of this source type can recommend items of this target type."
Choose which content types may be shown as internal links for each source content type.
| Content Type | Posts | Pages | Products |
|---|---|---|---|
| Posts | |||
| Pages | |||
| Products |
Want to recommend products at the end of every blog post? Check the Posts β Products cell. Want related blog content on product pages for cross-selling? Check Products β Posts.
Start conservative. Enable only the combinations that make editorial sense. Too many cross-links can dilute SEO value and confuse visitors.
Precisely control the number of boxes, insertion positions, and content analysis mode.
The number of boxes is calculated automatically from the numbers in this field; only valid, unique positions are used.
Normal Paragraph β Counts real HTML <p>...</p> elements in the original rendered content. Comments and code/raw-text areas are ignored.
WordPress page builders β Elementor-aware mode recognizes Elementor text-editor/widget wrappers and counts only their real <p>...</p> elements. The wrapper itself never creates an extra paragraph index; if no recognized Elementor text-editor wrapper is present, FlowLinks safely falls back to structural HTML paragraph detection.
FlowLinks keeps two separate ordering profiles: one for Posts & Pages and one for WooCommerce Products. In the current Free UI, both profiles expose date-based ordering with an independent ascending/descending direction.
Newest / oldest Sort by publish date, with an independent ascending/descending direction for posts/pages and products.
The renderer still accepts several legacy ordering keys for backward compatibility with older saved settings, but those advanced methods are not exposed as selectable options in the current Free administration UI.
Configure the visual structure of the boxes with consistent, organized controls.
The Optional external credit link switch controls the βPowered By: Pixel Flowlinksβ link to Pixel Plugins shown in the public box header. It is disabled by default and appears on public pages only after you explicitly enable it.
Card layout β Grid of visual cards with thumbnails, ideal for blog recommendations and product carousels.
List layout β Compact vertical list with side thumbnails. Perfect for sidebars and dense content areas.
The List Item Border color only applies in List mode. It draws a coloured left border on each row for a clean accent effect.
The Live Preview panel at the bottom of the Internal Links tab renders a real-time replica of your frontend output using the same data, ordering, and styling rules. Any change to a setting β title, colors, positions, ordering β updates the preview within milliseconds.
The preview uses the same data, ordering and final frontend styling.

On the frontend, FlowLinks injects the block directly into your content at the exact paragraph positions you specified. The block is fully LTR-aligned and themed with the colors you chose.
FlowLinks enforces LTR text direction on the block regardless of your site's default direction. When enabled by the site administrator, the optional "Powered By" credit is displayed in the box header together with the title and content items.
The out-of-the-box config works well for most sites. Tweak only what you need.
The current Free UI does not expose manual ordering; use the content matrix and exclusions to keep recommendations focused.
Exclude utility pages (Privacy Policy, Terms, Cart, Checkout) so they never appear as recommendations.
Placing a block at paragraph 2 can feel intrusive. For long-form content, paragraphs 4β6 usually perform best.
Too many internal links on one page dilute SEO value. Two or three contextual blocks are usually enough.
