Songs, scripture and slides for your services, with a control screen, a projector screen and a stage screen. A product of avdude.com.

== Description ==

Website: https://praisedirector.com

Praise Director runs Sunday's slides from your WordPress site. Plan the service during the week; on Sunday open a browser window on the projection computer and put the words on the screen. Nothing to install on the projection computer and no license per machine.

* **Song library.** Type songs in, or import tagged or SongSelect text, OpenLyrics and CSV files. Keys, tempo, themes and a sung order (V1 C V2 C B C) for every song, and an export of the whole library as text, so your songs are never locked in.
* **Setlists by date.** Plan each service: songs, scripture, slides, section headings and a countdown, dragged into order, with a sequence and notes per service. Duplicate last week's service in one click.
* **Scripture.** The King James Version and the World English Bible come with the plugin (public domain; see Bible texts). Paste text from any translation you are licensed to use.
* **Presenter.** A control screen with every slide, a projector screen and a stage screen (clock, current and next slide, messages to the band) that open by link on any computer, TV or tablet and stay in sync. Keyboard control, clear and black.
* **Slides.** Welcome, announcements, the offering: a heading and text on your own colour or picture.
* **Videos.** Add YouTube and Vimeo links to a setlist.
* **Look.** Colours, background picture, font and size for every slide, with a live preview, and the CCLI line on lyric slides.
* **User guide.** A complete guide is built in: Praise Director > Guide.
* **Your admin, your colours.** An app-style admin with Sanctuary, Lagoon, Aurora, Ember, Harbor and Crimson themes, light or dark.

= Praise Director Pro =

Praise Director Pro is a separate plugin from avdude.com for churches that want more: Sermon Slides (the pastor's PowerPoint with its designs, and a sermon clock on the stage screen), an offline file that runs the whole service with no internet, imports from ProPresenter and worshiponline.com charts, a timer library and video files, an online Bible (ESV API and API.Bible), a front-end app with a control link for volunteers, a website slideshow, and Media Library folders. Everything in this plugin works fully on its own, with no trial and no limit. Learn more at https://praisedirector.com/

= Privacy =

Praise Director does not send any information about you or your church anywhere. It makes no requests to other servers on its own. If you add a YouTube or Vimeo link to a setlist, the projector screen loads that video from youtube-nocookie.com or Vimeo, as any embedded video does, and the admin shows a YouTube video's thumbnail from i.ytimg.com. The links to avdude.com in the plugin's admin pages are ordinary links that do nothing until you click them. Nothing is shown on the projector, stage or public pages other than your own slides.

= External services =

Praise Director works on its own and makes no requests to other servers unless you add a link to a video from one of these services. Nothing is sent when you only use songs, setlists, scripture, slides and the screens.

* **YouTube** (Google). When you add a YouTube link to a setlist, the admin shows the video's thumbnail from `i.ytimg.com`, and the projector screen loads the video from `www.youtube-nocookie.com`. Your visitor's browser contacts YouTube when the video loads, so YouTube sees the usual request data (such as the IP address). Terms: https://www.youtube.com/t/terms. Privacy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
* **Vimeo.** When you add a Vimeo link, the projector screen loads the video from `player.vimeo.com`, and the browser contacts Vimeo in the same way. Terms: https://vimeo.com/terms. Privacy: https://vimeo.com/privacy.

The links to avdude.com and to the PayPal donation page are ordinary links that do nothing until you click them.

= Source code =

Praise Director has no build step: the PHP, JavaScript and CSS files in the plugin are the source files, uncompressed and readable.

= Bible texts =

The World English Bible is in the public domain. The King James Version is in the public domain except in the United Kingdom, where the Crown holds the rights to it (churches there may still read it in worship; check before reproducing it in print). The text files come from eBible.org.

= Copyright =

Praise Director does not include copyrighted song lyrics. To project songs your church needs its own CCLI license (or another suitable license) and must report its use as the license requires.

== Installation ==

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I need to install anything on the projection computer? =

No. Any modern browser works. Open the projector link, make it full screen and click once in it.

= Do the screens need to log in? =

No. Each screen kind has a secret link. Share it only with your team; Settings can make new links, which stops the old ones.

= Does it need the internet during the service? =

Only to reach your WordPress site. Songs and scripture are stored on the site. Online videos need the internet. (Praise Director Pro adds an offline file that needs neither.)

= Does it include song lyrics? =

No. You add your own songs. Your church needs its own CCLI license to project copyrighted songs.

= Can I get my songs out again? =

Yes. Songs > Export all downloads every song as plain text that you can import again.

== Changelog ==

= 0.32.5 =
* Changed: the two Bibles that come with the plugin are stored as JSON files instead of tab-separated text. Nothing changes for installed Bibles.

= 0.32.4 =
* Fixed: shortened text (a scripture passage's first words, a slide's text, setlist notes) ended with "…" instead of "…".

= 0.32.3 =
* Fixed: moving past a video in the first moment after it appeared could leave a script error on the projector screen (nothing changed on screen).
* Deleting the plugin with "Delete all songs, setlists and settings too" switched on now removes everything the plugin stored, found by its name prefix, including temporary data.
* The stylesheets are written out one declaration per line, and the CSV import and Bible install read files with PHP's own file classes.
* The user guide's limits table lists only this plugin's features.

= 0.32.2 =
* The readme and the user guide explain that the King James Version is public domain except in the United Kingdom.
* Installing a bundled Bible adds its verses in a single database transaction, so a failure part-way leaves nothing half installed.
* Code tidy-up for the WordPress.org review (screens, setlists).

= 0.32.1 =
* Deleting the plugin with "Delete all songs, setlists and settings too" switched on now also removes the Look settings and each person's saved choices (last Bible, checklist, notes).
* Code tidy-up in the Present page, the slide and video editors and the screens.

= 0.32.0 =
* Every name the plugin gives to its code and stored data now starts with "prsdir".
* The projector and stage pages load their styles and scripts through WordPress.
* Every form reads only its own fields, each sanitized as it is read, and checks its nonce and the user's rights first.
* The user guide covers this plugin's features only.
* Fixed: the live preview in the slide editor did not draw.

= 0.30.0 =
* A simpler menu: the header now shows six items (Dashboard, Setlists, Present, Library, Guide, More) with a second row of tabs inside Library (Look, Songs, Slides, Scripture, Videos) and More (Reports, Settings). Every page is still there and every link still works.

= 0.29.2 =
* On the Present page a song's title above its slides is now a link to edit that song, in a new tab.

= 0.28.0 =
* A CCLI song usage report (Praise Director > Reports): which songs were used between two dates, how many times and on which dates, with each song's CCLI number, to print or download as a CSV file for CCLI's reporting.
* A Get started checklist on the Dashboard that ticks itself off as you set up, and an optional sample service (three public-domain hymns and a setlist for next Sunday) you can remove in one click.

= 0.27.0 =
* The song editor's lyrics box can be made taller or shorter by dragging its bottom edge (it remembers its size), so the slide preview below it is easy to see. The editor has a wider layout on large screens.

= 0.24.0 =
* A Dashboard page, now the page Praise Director opens on: the next service with Present and Edit buttons, counts of songs, setlists, slides and videos, recently edited songs, quick actions, the screen links and a status card.

= 0.22.0 =
* First release on WordPress.org.
