Show your latest Google reviews on your site as a list, carousel, grid, masonry, badge or floating button. Free for one location.

== Description ==

ReputeMap Reviews puts your latest Google reviews on any page of your WordPress site. Connect your Google Business Profile through a free ReputeMap account, pick the location, and add the block or the shortcode where the reviews should appear.

**Six layouts**

* List
* Carousel
* Grid
* Masonry
* Badge and badge card (your rating and review count)
* Floating button in a corner of every page it is placed on

**What you can set**

* Layout, light, dark or automatic theme (follows your page background)
* How many of the latest reviews to show (1–50)
* An optional "Write a review" button that opens your Google review form
* Default options on the settings page, and different options per block or shortcode

**Honest by design**

* The rating and the review count cover all of your Google reviews.
* Reviews are shown newest first and are never filtered by star rating.
* Every layout links to your listing on Google.

**Free and paid plans**

The plugin is free. The ReputeMap free plan includes the review widget for one Google location, with no card needed. On the free plan the widget shows a small "Powered by ReputeMap" link; the ReputeMap service adds it to the widget it serves, and this plugin adds no links or credits of its own.

Paid ReputeMap plans add replies to reviews written with AI, alerts about new reviews, more locations, and a widget without the ReputeMap link. See [plans and prices](https://reputemap.com/pricing).

**Light on your site**

The plugin stores a widget token and your options in your WordPress database. It makes no requests from your server, loads nothing on pages without the widget, and adds one small asynchronous script where the widget is placed. The widget draws your reviews inside its own Shadow DOM, so your theme's styles and the widget's styles do not clash.

This plugin relies on the ReputeMap service. Please read the "External services" section below.

== Installation ==

1. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New, search for "ReputeMap Reviews", then install and activate the plugin. Or upload the `reputemap-reviews` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/` and activate it on the Plugins screen.
2. Go to Settings → ReputeMap Reviews and click "Connect with ReputeMap (free)".
3. Sign in to ReputeMap or create a free account, connect your Google Business Profile and pick the location. You are sent back to the settings page and the widget is connected.
4. Add the "ReputeMap Reviews" block to a page, or paste the shortcode `[reputemap_reviews]` into a page, post or widget area.

Already have a widget in ReputeMap? On the settings page, open "Already have a widget? Paste its token or embed code" and paste the embed code from ReputeMap instead of connecting.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Is it free? =

Yes. The plugin is free, and the ReputeMap free plan includes the widget for one Google location without a card. Paid plans are optional.

= Do I need a ReputeMap account? =

Yes. Reviews come from your Google Business Profile, which you connect in ReputeMap. The free account is created during "Connect with ReputeMap (free)".

= Why does the widget show "Powered by ReputeMap"? =

On the free plan the ReputeMap service adds a small "Powered by ReputeMap" link to the widget it serves. The link is not added by this plugin. Paid plans show the widget without it.

= Which shortcode options are there? =

`[reputemap_reviews layout="carousel" theme="dark" max="6" write="yes"]`

* `layout`: list, carousel, grid, masonry, badge, badge-card, floating
* `theme`: auto, light, dark
* `max`: 1–50 reviews
* `write`: yes or no, the "Write a review" button
* `side`: left or right, for the floating layout

Options you leave out use the defaults from Settings → ReputeMap Reviews.

= Why don't I see the reviews in the block editor? =

The editor shows a placeholder with the chosen options. The live widget appears on the published page and in the preview on the settings page.

= The widget does not appear. What can I check? =

* Settings → ReputeMap Reviews should say "Connected" and show the widget in the preview.
* If you use a plugin that delays, combines or moves JavaScript, exclude `api.reputemap.com` from it. The widget appears right after its script tag, so the tag must stay where the block or shortcode put it.
* The floating layout appears in a corner of the window, not in the page content.
* If the ReputeMap account stops covering the widget, the widget renders nothing instead of an error.

= Can I show more than one location? =

This version keeps one widget token per site. Paid ReputeMap plans include more locations; for another location, paste its embed code from ReputeMap into a Custom HTML block.

= Does the widget set cookies? =

No. The widget script loads your review data from api.reputemap.com without cookies.

= What happens when I disconnect or delete the plugin? =

Disconnect removes the widget token from this site, and the widget stops showing. Deleting the plugin removes its options and stored data from your database. Your ReputeMap account is not changed in either case.

== External services ==

This plugin connects your site to ReputeMap (https://reputemap.com), a service that collects your Google reviews and serves the review widget. It is needed to show the reviews. The plugin itself makes no requests from your server; all requests below are made by a browser.

1. **Showing the widget (api.reputemap.com).** On every page that contains the block or the shortcode, the visitor's browser loads the widget script from `https://api.reputemap.com/api/public/widget/<your widget token>.js` and then your review data from `https://api.reputemap.com/api/public/widget/<your widget token>`. The settings page does the same for the preview when an administrator opens it. These requests send the widget token, the address of the page the widget is on (the browser's Origin and Referer headers), and what every web request contains: the visitor's IP address and browser user agent. ReputeMap uses the site address to show you where your widget is installed. No cookies are sent or set.
2. **Connecting (app.reputemap.com).** When an administrator clicks "Connect with ReputeMap (free)", the browser opens `https://app.reputemap.com/widget` with the address of this site's ReputeMap settings page, a one-time security code, and labels saying the visit came from the WordPress plugin (`source=wordpress` and `utm_*` parameters). After sign-in and the location choice, ReputeMap sends the browser back to that settings page with the widget token, the same security code and the business name, which the plugin saves in your database.
3. **Links.** "Manage the widget in ReputeMap", "See plans and prices", and the "Powered by ReputeMap" link that the service shows on the free plan open reputemap.com pages only when someone clicks them.
