Replace WooCommerce's random order IDs with clean sequential order numbers built from prefixes, suffixes, dates and padded counters.

== Description ==

WooCommerce numbers orders using the underlying post or order ID, which jumps around as other content is created. This plugin gives every order a predictable, human friendly number instead.

Requires WooCommerce 5.0 or newer, and is tested up to WooCommerce 11.1.

= Features =

* Sequential order numbers applied automatically to new orders.
* Prefix and suffix, for example `ORD-1001` or `1001-EU`.
* Date placeholders anywhere in the number, using any PHP date format.
* Ready made format presets, plus a custom pattern field for full control.
* Zero padded number length, so `1` becomes `0001`.
* Configurable start number, useful when migrating from another platform.
* Custom increment, so numbers can step by 5, 10 or any interval.
* Automatic counter reset on a daily, monthly or yearly cycle, with its own start number.
* A separate sequence and format for free (zero total) orders.
* Optional refund numbers derived from the parent order.
* Renumber existing orders: all of them, everything from a date, or everything from an order ID, run in batches with a progress bar.
* Search the admin order list by custom order number.
* Customers can use the custom number in the order tracking form.
* Works with WooCommerce Subscriptions, including renewal orders.
* Compatible with High Performance Order Storage (HPOS) and the block based checkout.
* Tools to set a single order's number by hand, reset the counters, or restore WooCommerce's default numbering.

= Placeholders =

`{prefix}`, `{number}`, `{suffix}`, `{date}`, `{year}`, `{short_year}`, `{month}`, `{day}`, `{order_id}`, `{customer_id}`, and inline dates such as `{date:Y-m}`.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Will existing orders be renumbered? =

Not unless you ask. The default scope is "Upcoming orders only". Choose a wider scope on the Order number format tab, save, then run the job from the Tools tab.

= Are the numbers safe under load? =

Yes. Each number is allocated inside a MySQL named lock, so two simultaneous checkouts cannot receive the same value.

= What happens to abandoned block checkout carts? =

Draft orders are skipped, so numbers are not consumed by carts that were never completed.

= Does it work with HPOS? =

Yes. The plugin declares compatibility with High Performance Order Storage and reads and writes order meta through the active storage engine.
