Optimize images locally, create next-generation formats, audit ALT text, find exact duplicates, and safely review unused media.

== Description ==

ToolFlexy MediaFix is a free media toolkit for WordPress. Image processing stays on your server and no account, license key, cloud API, tracking, or usage limit is required.

= Optional ToolFlexy Connect =

The plugin includes an optional, disabled-by-default connection. Nothing is sent unless an administrator explicitly selects "Share installation data" and connects the site. When enabled, ToolFlexy receives the site URL, site title, WordPress/PHP versions, MediaFix version, locale, and connection status. The administrator email is sent only when the separate marketing checkbox is selected. Users can disconnect and request deletion from MediaFix > ToolFlexy Connect. = Image optimization =

* Optimize new uploads automatically or process existing images in a controlled queue.
* Configure JPEG/PNG quality and maximum dimensions.
* Create WebP and AVIF sidecars when the server image library supports them.
* Deliver modern formats with a responsive picture element and original fallback.
* Keep randomized-path original backups and restore optimized files.
* See per-image savings and dashboard totals.

= ALT text audit =

* Preview before changing metadata.
* Use the related post, page, or product title; an SEO focus keyword; or a cleaned filename.
* Recognizes Yoast SEO, Rank Math, SEOPress, and common AIOSEO keyword metadata.
* Choose included or excluded categories, taxonomy terms, and Media Collections. Exclusions win.
* Detect featured images, content images, page-builder data, product galleries, and custom fields.
* Preserve existing ALT text, skip decorative images, and roll back recent changes.

= Media library tools =

* Exact duplicate finder using file hashes.
* Conservative unused-media review with references and site-branding protection.
* Move reviewed attachments to WordPress Trash; never permanently delete them automatically.
* Disable selected generated thumbnail sizes for future uploads.
* Organize attachments with Media Collections.
* Server capability and system-status checks.

Important: make a full backup and test on staging before bulk optimization or cleanup. A scanner cannot guarantee that dynamically referenced media is unused.

== Installation ==

1. Upload the plugin ZIP from Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
2. Activate ToolFlexy MediaFix.
3. Open MediaFix > System Status and confirm that uploads are writable.
4. Review Settings, then optimize one test image before starting a bulk operation.

== Screenshots ==

2. ALT Text Audit with batch loading, filters, suggestions, and live progress.
3. Image optimization settings with accessible toggle controls.
4. Conservative Media Cleaner review screen.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does it use an external image service? =

No. It uses the image libraries available through WordPress on your own server.

= Will AVIF always be available? =

No. AVIF and WebP creation depends on your hosting server's GD or Imagick capabilities. MediaFix reports this in System Status.

= Does the cleaner delete files automatically? =

No. It only shows conservative candidates. A user with deletion permission must review and move an attachment to Trash.

= Does it overwrite existing ALT text? =

The default is missing-only mode. Existing ALT text is preserved. Preview and rollback are also available.
