Show genuine recent activity — orders, signups and reviews — as tasteful, fast, privacy-friendly notification bubbles. No fake data.

== Description ==

**TrueProof** turns the *real* activity on your site into social proof that converts. It shows tasteful notification bubbles of genuine recent orders, signups and reviews — automated word-of-mouth that helps new visitors trust you.

Brand-new site with no traffic yet? Use **Simulation Mode** to design, preview and test your notifications with clearly-labelled sample data, then flip to **Real Data Mode** the moment your first customers arrive.

= Honest by design =

* **Real Data Mode** pulls genuine events from WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads, user registrations and approved comments/reviews.
* **Simulation Mode** is for previewing only and always shows a visible "Demo" badge — your visitors are never misled.
* Built to respect FTC and EU rules on endorsements and testimonials.

= Features (free) =

* WooCommerce order notifications
* Recent approved comment / review notifications
* Simulation Mode with an always-visible "Demo" badge
* Name anonymisation (e.g. "Anna K.") for GDPR-friendly display
* Lightweight vanilla-JavaScript frontend — fast, no jQuery, no layout shift
* Position, accent colour, timing and per-page display controls
* Results cached server-side; events served over the REST API
* **No tracking, no ads, nothing sold.** The free version makes no external calls.

= TrueProof Pro =

The free plugin covers WooCommerce orders, reviews and Simulation Mode — everything you need to get started. **[TrueProof Pro](https://wptrueproof.com/)** unlocks:

* **Easy Digital Downloads** sales notifications
* **New-user signup** notifications
* **Display rules** — show notifications only on selected content (pages, posts, products, archives)
* Use on **multiple sites**
* Priority support and updates

Pro is activated with a license key from [wptrueproof.com](https://wptrueproof.com/). Activating a key validates it with our store — see Privacy below.

= Privacy =

TrueProof only reads data that already exists on your own site (orders, users, comments) and never sends that data to third parties. Displayed names can be anonymised to first name + initial. See the FAQ for the exact data shown.

The **only** time the plugin contacts an external server is when you *activate a Pro license*: your license key and your site URL are sent to the TrueProof store at [wptrueproof.com](https://wptrueproof.com/) to verify the key and count site activations. The free version never makes any external request.

== Installation ==

1. Upload the `trueproof` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`, or install via **Plugins → Add New**.
2. Activate the plugin.
3. Go to **Settings → TrueProof**, choose your mode (start with Simulation), pick your data sources, and save.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does it show fake data? =

Only if you explicitly enable Simulation Mode, which always displays a visible "Demo" badge. Real Data Mode shows only genuine events from your own site.

= What exactly is shown to visitors? =

A first name (optionally anonymised to first name + initial), an optional city/country, the action (e.g. "purchased …", "signed up", "left a review") and a relative time. No emails, no full addresses, no order totals.

= Does it slow my site down? =

No. The frontend is a tiny vanilla-JS script and events are cached server-side for a few minutes.

= Is it GDPR-friendly? =

Yes. Names can be anonymised, only first-party data is used, and nothing is sent to third parties.

= Does it require WooCommerce? =

No. WooCommerce is an optional source. Without it you can still show comments/reviews or use Simulation Mode. EDD and new-user signups are part of TrueProof Pro.

= Does the plugin connect to any external server? =

The free version makes no external calls at all. If you buy TrueProof Pro and activate your license key, the plugin sends only that key and your site URL to the TrueProof store (wptrueproof.com) to validate it. No personal data and no visitor data is ever transmitted.

= How do I get Pro features? =

Buy a license at [wptrueproof.com](https://wptrueproof.com/#pricing), then paste the key into **Settings → TrueProof → License** and click Activate.
