AI alt text for WordPress images. Scan your media library, read text with OCR, improve image SEO, and protect new uploads.

== Description ==

Verba generates accurate alt text for WordPress and WooCommerce images. It scans your media library, detects missing or weak descriptions, reads visible text with OCR, and writes verified alt text directly into native WordPress attachment metadata.

Install the plugin, click Connect to Uhallo, and select Start Bulk Scan from Settings -> Verba. Verba analyzes existing images, extracts text from graphics, and saves clean descriptions back to your media library. New uploads are protected automatically so your site never falls behind on accessibility.

The built-in admin dashboard displays your Coverage score, active queue status, upload protection, and side-by-side before/after fixes. The Reports Summary gives agencies and site owners an immediate audit log of scanned images, fixed descriptions, and ongoing protection.

Verba is built for real cleanup work where the plugin is the main product experience:

* AI alt text for WordPress images and WooCommerce product media.
* Bulk Media Library scans for posts, pages, galleries, and past uploads.
* OCR-first text extraction for banners, menus, badges, charts, and screenshots.
* Native WordPress database writeback, not a temporary frontend overlay.
* Base64 firewall mode for staging, local development, and private networks.
* Trial counters and proof summaries for agencies delivering accessibility reports.

= External service and privacy =

Verba connects your WordPress site to the Uhallo API at https://api.uhallo.com. This external service is required for account connection, image analysis, AI alt text generation, usage tracking, and writing approved descriptions back to WordPress.

When you connect the plugin or scan images, the plugin sends your client identifier, signed request metadata, site URL, attachment ID, image URL (or Base64 image data in firewall mode), existing alt text, filename, MIME type, and callback URL. Uhallo processes this data to generate descriptions, update matching attachments, track usage, and keep the API secure.

An active account is required to use the hosted AI service. Connecting Verba confirms agreement with terms and privacy policies at https://uhallo.com/terms and https://uhallo.com/privacy.

* Site owners fixing image accessibility backlogs.
* Accessibility consultants needing fast media remediation after an audit.

== Installation ==

1. Install and activate Verba from your WordPress Plugins screen.
2. Go to Settings -> Verba in your admin menu.
3. Click Create Free Proof Trial to start inside WordPress, or use Connect Existing if you already have a key.
4. The plugin creates and connects the Free Trial for this site.
5. Review your Media Library health and click Start Bulk Scan.

If you downloaded the plugin zip directly, upload it through Plugins -> Add New -> Upload Plugin, then follow the same Settings -> Verba connection flow.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I need technical skills to use this? =

No. Verba is self-serve. Install the plugin, connect your account with your email, and start the bulk scan from the WordPress admin menu.

= Does it fix images that already exist on my site? =

Yes. The bulk scan audits existing Media Library images without alt text and queues them for AI descriptions.

= Does it handle new image uploads? =

Yes. Once connected, new uploads are processed automatically so you never accumulate missing alt text again.

= Where is the alt text stored? =

Verba writes alt text directly into native WordPress attachment metadata (_wp_attachment_image_alt). Your descriptions remain in your database even if you deactivate the plugin.

= How does the free trial work? =

Click Create Free Proof Trial in Settings -> Verba. Enter your email to verify with a 6-digit code. You receive 50 free image generations (30 existing library scans and 20 new upload checks).

= Can I use this on staging or password-protected sites? =

Yes. Enable Firewall Mode in settings to send Base64 image data directly instead of requiring public image URLs.

= Will Verba overwrite manual alt text edits? =

No. The engine checks edit timestamps and automatically skips images if a human team member edited the alt text after a scan was queued.
