Turn your WordPress blog into an SEO growth engine - VellumUp writes brand-matched articles and publishes them for you, automatically.

== Description ==

**Stop staring at a blank editor.** VellumUp analyses your website, researches
the keywords worth ranking for, and writes complete articles in your brand's
own voice - table of contents, FAQ section, and a featured image included.
This plugin is the last mile: one click, and each article lands on your
WordPress blog, ready to publish.

No copy-pasting from a dashboard. No formatting HTML by hand. Connect once,
and your content pipeline runs itself.

= What VellumUp does =

* **Deep-scans your site's structure, links, and brand voice, then writes to match**
* **Researches keywords and topics relevant to your store**
* **Automatically plans and publishes new articles on a schedule**
* **Articles are built to rank on Google and get cited by AI**

= What ends up on your blog =

* **Full SEO articles, in your brand voice** - researched, written to match how your site already talks to its readers, and formatted for WordPress out of the box
* **Auto-generated table of contents** - built from the article's own headings, with jump-to-section links
* **FAQ section** - added when it genuinely helps the reader, not bolted on for the sake of it
* **Featured image, matched to your site** - generated for the specific article in the visual style you choose (from sketch to photorealistic) and your brand colors, set automatically with no separate upload step
* **Meta description** - written for the search snippet, not just for the article
* **Multi-language publishing** - translations post as their own articles, tagged and categorized by language, right-to-left languages included

This plugin is a connector. It does two things: it connects this site to your
VellumUp account, and it lets you disconnect again. The writing and publishing
happen in the VellumUp service.

= Requires a VellumUp account =

**This plugin requires an account on VellumUp, a third-party service, and does
nothing on its own.** You can create one for free during setup - clicking
"Connect to VellumUp" takes you there.

New accounts get a 5-day free trial - a full content plan, keyword research,
and up to 5 articles, on us. No credit card required, no commitment.

= External service disclosure =

This plugin connects your site to VellumUp, a service operated by VellumUp at
https://vellumup.com.

**When data is sent:** only when you click the "Connect to VellumUp" button.
Nothing is sent on installation, on activation, or in the background.

**What is sent**, in a single HTTPS request to
`https://vellumup.com/api/integrations/wordpress/plugin/ticket`:

* Your site address (`home_url()`) and REST API address (`get_rest_url()`)
* Your site name
* The WordPress username of the administrator clicking the button
* A newly created WordPress Application Password, scoped to VellumUp
* Your WordPress version and this plugin's version

**What VellumUp does with it:** it uses the Application Password to create and
update posts on this site through the WordPress REST API, on your instruction
from the VellumUp dashboard. Your actual WordPress password is never shared -
Application Passwords are a WordPress core feature designed exactly for this,
and can be revoked independently at any time.

**Nothing else leaves your site.** This plugin adds no analytics, no tracking,
and no background requests.

* The WordPress REST API reachable from the internet

== Installation ==

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I need a VellumUp account? =

Yes. This plugin is a connector for the VellumUp service and does nothing
without an account. You can create one free during setup.

= Is this plugin free? =

Yes, and every feature in it works without payment. VellumUp itself gives new
accounts a 5-day free trial, then a free plan plus paid plans; billing is
handled entirely on vellumup.com and this plugin never restricts or unlocks
anything based on your plan.

= What exactly is sent to VellumUp? =

See "External service disclosure" above for the complete list. In short: your
site address, site name, WordPress username, a newly created Application
Password, and version numbers - sent once, only when you click Connect.

= Is my WordPress password shared? =

No. The plugin creates a WordPress **Application Password**, a core feature
built for granting limited access to external tools. Your real password is
never read or transmitted, and the Application Password can be revoked on its
own without affecting your login.

= How do I revoke access? =

Click Disconnect on the VellumUp screen, or revoke the "VellumUp" entry under
Users → Profile → Application Passwords.

= My host has Application Passwords disabled. =

Some security plugins turn them off. The VellumUp screen will tell you if this
is the case. Re-enable Application Passwords, then connect again.

= Does this work on HTTP-only sites? =

No. The Application Password authenticates every publish request, so sending it
over plain HTTP would expose it. Most hosts offer a free SSL certificate.

= Does it work on multisite or in a subdirectory? =

Subdirectory installs are fully supported. On multisite, activate and connect
per site rather than network-wide.
