Save money on returns and support by validating your customers' addresses in your WooCommerce store with VerifyShip!

== Description ==

Incorrect shipping addresses are one of the most expensive problems in eCommerce, leading to failed deliveries, returns, and unnecessary operational costs. **VerifyShip prevents these issues before they happen.**

We use a **2-step address validation process** designed to protect your store without disrupting the standard checkout flow:

- **During checkout:** We detect obvious formatting and input issues in real time and help customers correct them instantly
- **After order submission:** We perform a full validation using multiple data sources and notify the customer if their address needs correction

When issues are detected, we provide **intelligent address suggestions and corrections**, helping customers quickly fix mistakes without friction.

This ensures you catch both simple errors early and more complex address issues after checkout—while keeping the buying experience smooth and conversion-friendly.

This extension is free to download and install. However, our address validation service requires a subscription from [VerifyShip](https://verify-ship.com).

This plugin connects to an API to validate addresses.
During checkout, it sends essential address information (country, postalCode, city, street address) as well as email, name and phone number. This information is only used for validation and not stored by VerifyShip.
During advanced validation (after order confirmation), only essential address information is sent again.

== Installation ==

= Automatic installation =

The easiest way is to go to the WordPress plugin store, search for "VerifyShip" and install it.

= Manual installation =

Manual installation requires downloading the VerifyShip plugin and uploading it to your web server via FTP. The WordPress codex contains a [manual](https://wordpress.org/support/article/managing-plugins/#manual-plugin-installation) for this.

= First Steps =

After installation, you will find the VerifyShip settings tab in your WooCommerce settings.
After clicking on it, you will need to provide us with your email address. Rest assured, you will not receive any marketing emails. This is only so we can contact you or inform you of important events (e.g. the expiration of your free trial). After that, you can configure your desired validation behavior and you're ready to go!
