Rental items, availability, inventory protection and WooCommerce bookings for rental businesses.

== Description ==

Vermivo turns WordPress and WooCommerce into a rental management system for rental businesses, event suppliers and similar business models.

Vermivo Free is a fully usable core plugin. It does not require a Vermivo license key and receives updates exclusively through WordPress.org.

= Features included in Vermivo Free =

* Rental items with price, stock, rental duration and availability
* Daily, 12-hour and 24-hour rental logic
* Double-booking and inventory protection
* Cart reservations with automatic release
* WooCommerce cart, Classic Checkout and order integration
* Pickup and basic flat-rate delivery
* Deposits and WooCommerce tax handling
* Catalog, single product, search and booking form shortcodes
* Elementor widgets for the free core features
* Basic design options and responsive layouts
* Privacy tools, system status and setup wizard
* WooCommerce HPOS-compatible order processing

= Vermivo Pro =

Vermivo Pro is a separately distributed commercial add-on. Premium code is not included in this WordPress.org package.

The optional add-on can extend Vermivo with packages, extras, quote requests, advanced delivery rules, rental contracts/PDF files, QR codes, calendar synchronization, email automations and additional design controls. Vermivo Free remains fully functional without the add-on within the feature set described above.

More information about the optional add-on is available on the plugin website.

= Privacy and external services =

Vermivo Free does not transmit booking, customer or contract data to Vermivo servers and does not perform license checks. Free/Core updates are provided exclusively through WordPress.org.

The optional public “Powered by Vermivo” attribution is disabled by default and appears only when the site administrator explicitly enables it in the settings.

External services used by a separately installed Pro add-on are not part of this Free/Core package and are documented by that add-on.

Vermivo integrates with the WordPress privacy export and erasure tools. Legal retention obligations may prevent immediate deletion of business transaction records.

== Installation ==

1. Install and activate WooCommerce.
2. Install and activate Vermivo.
3. Run the Vermivo setup wizard.
4. Create a rental item. Vermivo creates and links the required technical WooCommerce product.
5. Display the catalog, for example, with `[vermivo_katalog]`.

Vermivo 1.1 supports the classic WooCommerce cart and Classic Checkout. WooCommerce Cart and Checkout Blocks are not yet supported in this release.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I need a license key for Vermivo Free? =

No. Vermivo Free does not require a license key.

= Do I have to use Elementor? =

No. Vermivo works independently of page builders through shortcodes. Elementor is optional and supported with dedicated widgets.

= Does Vermivo support WooCommerce HPOS? =

Yes. Vermivo uses the WooCommerce CRUD API and declares HPOS compatibility.

= Does Vermivo support WooCommerce Cart and Checkout Blocks? =

Not yet. In version 1.1, Classic Checkout is the supported production checkout flow.

= What happens to my data if Vermivo Pro is deactivated? =

Shared rental item, booking and inventory data remains in Vermivo Core. Premium modules are unavailable while the Pro add-on is inactive.

= Can I migrate from an older Vermivo/Mietpilot version? =

Yes. Vermivo 1.1 contains a one-time migration for Vermivo-owned legacy `mp_*` identifiers and keeps the historical Mietpilot database tables required by existing bookings. If the old core at `mietpilot/mietpilot.php` is still active, deactivate it manually first and then activate Vermivo 1.1. A complete file and database backup is recommended before migration.

== Changelog ==

= 1.1.0 =
* Rebuilt the booking calendar state handling so it starts closed, only one instance can be open at a time, and the close control dismisses exactly the active calendar.
* Added cache-safe frontend asset versions so calendar CSS and JavaScript changes are loaded immediately after plugin updates.
* Hardened request sanitization, final output escaping and prepared SQL identifier handling for WordPress.org review.
* Fixed the legacy identifier migration so it also runs during normal plugin updates, restoring existing rental items, categories, settings and booking references without requiring reactivation.
* Introduced the canonical plugin path `vermivo/vermivo.php` with a migration for historical Vermivo identifiers.
* Separated Free/Core and Pro architecture; premium implementation code is not included in the WordPress.org package.
* Free/Core uses the WordPress.org update channel only and contains no external updater.
* Improved Elementor compatibility and hardened widget registration.
* Consolidated WooCommerce HPOS support, inventory protection and cart reservations.
* Added migration safeguards to avoid unintended removal of shared historical Vermivo data.
* The optional public “Powered by Vermivo” attribution is disabled by default.

== Upgrade Notice ==

= 1.1.0 =
For installations using the historical `mietpilot/` plugin path, create a complete backup before upgrading. Deactivate the old core manually before activating Vermivo 1.1. Existing Vermivo business data is migrated or preserved as required by the 1.1 compatibility layer.
