Scan WordPress for accessibility issues, group repeated root causes, track remediation, verify fixes, and create clear WCAG-focused reports.

== Description ==

**Accessibility testing that tells you what to fix next.**

WeAreDev Accessibility Assessment Toolkit scans WordPress for common machine-detectable accessibility issues and turns the results into a practical remediation workflow.

Instead of showing the same problem page after page, the toolkit groups recurring findings by likely root cause so shared templates, components, styles, navigation, images, and content patterns can be investigated more efficiently.

**Scan → Understand → Remediate → Verify**

* **Scan** with Quick, Smart, Full Site, or Custom coverage.
* **Understand** grouped findings with severity, WCAG references, affected URLs, selectors, likely-source hints, and guided remediation steps.
* **Remediate** using a persistent workflow with Open, In progress, Ready to verify, Resolved, Still failing, Regressed, and Ignored states.
* **Verify** corrections with later scans before a finding is considered resolved.

= Built for practical accessibility work =

* Group recurring findings by likely root cause instead of treating every occurrence as a separate task.
* Open an affected page and highlight an example element.
* Jump to editable Elementor content when available.
* Compare completed scans and track resolved, new, persistent, and regressed findings.
* Maintain a project baseline and scan history.
* Export technical Markdown, CSV, and JSON data.
* Generate stakeholder-friendly PDF reports for preliminary assessment, remediation progress, or final verification.

= Smart coverage for large sites =

Smart Scan reviews all discovered public URLs on sites with 100 URLs or fewer. On larger sites, it selects up to 100 representative URLs across public content types and archives so you can establish a practical working baseline without treating a representative scan as incomplete work.

= Not an accessibility overlay =

The toolkit does not add a public accessibility overlay, silently rewrite visitor-facing markup, or claim one-click compliance. It is designed to help developers, agencies, site owners, and maintainers identify, organize, remediate, and verify accessibility work.

= Important limitation =

Automated testing cannot determine complete WCAG conformance. A clean automated scan does not establish ADA compliance, legal compliance, or complete accessibility.

Manual evaluation remains necessary for keyboard interaction, focus order, screen-reader experience, zoom and reflow, content quality, meaningful alternative text, captions/transcripts, and other criteria that require human judgment.

== Privacy and data ==

WeAreDev Accessibility Assessment Toolkit does not send page content, scan results, or account data to a WeAreDev cloud service. Scanning runs in the authenticated administrator's browser against same-origin WordPress pages.

Scan history and remediation state are stored locally in custom WordPress database tables. The plugin currently preserves this history if the plugin is uninstalled so an accidental uninstall does not erase audit records.

== External services ==

None. The plugin does not require an external API, SaaS account, tracking service, or telemetry endpoint.

== Installation ==

1. Install and activate WeAreDev Accessibility Assessment Toolkit.
2. Open **Accessibility Assessment** in the WordPress admin menu.
3. Review the discovered public URL inventory.
4. Run **Smart Scan** for an initial working assessment, or choose another scan mode when appropriate.
5. Open grouped findings, make corrections, mark work **Ready to verify**, and run a later scan to verify the result.
6. Use **Scan history** and the report/export tools to document progress.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does this make my site ADA compliant? =

No. The toolkit identifies a subset of machine-detectable accessibility problems and helps organize remediation. Legal compliance and complete WCAG conformance require broader human evaluation.

= Does the plugin automatically change my public website? =

No. The free plugin is audit and workflow software. It does not silently rewrite visitor-facing markup or automatically claim that an issue is fixed.

= Does it send my website content to a SaaS service? =

No. The scanner runs locally in the authenticated administrator's browser and stores audit results in WordPress.

= Which scan should I use first? =

Smart Scan is the recommended working scan. On sites with up to 100 discovered public URLs it scans all of them. On larger sites it creates a representative sample across public content types and archives.

= Why can one finding have many occurrences? =

A shared template or component can produce the same accessibility problem on many pages. The toolkit groups repeated occurrences by a likely root cause so you can investigate the shared source instead of treating every occurrence as a separate code change.

= Can I show a finding on the page? =

Yes. **Open & Highlight** opens an affected page for an authenticated administrator and attempts to highlight the captured example selector.

= Can I generate a client or stakeholder report? =

Yes. The PDF generator supports a preliminary accessibility assessment, a remediation progress report, and a final accessibility verification report. Each report states the limitations of automated testing.

= Can a later scan verify a fix? =

Yes. Mark a finding **Ready to verify** after making a correction. A later scan must include previously affected URLs and no longer detect the same grouped finding before the toolkit marks it Resolved.

== Screenshots ==

1. Start a scan and review URL coverage, scan modes, and headline site metrics.
2. Review grouped findings with impact, remediation status, likely source, occurrences, and affected URLs.
3. Track remediation progress across scans with verification status, pending work, and regressions.
4. Review scan history, project baseline snapshots, and manual verification reminders.
