=== Accessibility Statement ===
Abira was designed and developed with accessibility best practices in mind, following the WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines. Accessibility was considered throughout development rather than added afterwards, and the theme aims to be usable by as many people as possible, including those using assistive technologies.

== Testing Tools and Methodology ==

Accessibility was part of the development workflow for Abira from the design phase through release. The theme was built on semantic HTML5 markup and the WordPress block system, and it was checked against the WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines during development.

The following tools and techniques were used:

- Automated tools:
  * axe DevTools browser extension
  * WAVE browser extension
  * WebAIM Contrast Checker for color contrast checks

- Manual testing techniques:
  * Keyboard-only navigation testing to confirm all interactive elements are focusable and operable, including the responsive navigation menu
  * Screen reader testing with NVDA (Windows) to verify focus order, landmark roles, and meaningful announcements
  * Visual focus checks to ensure a visible focus indicator on links, buttons, and form fields
  * Reflow and text-spacing testing at 400% zoom and with increased text spacing

No formal third-party accessibility audit has been completed. Accessibility is reviewed as part of regular updates, and reported issues are logged and addressed in the normal release process.

== Accessibility Features ==

In addition to meeting the accessibility-ready requirements, Abira:

- Uses a system font stack only and makes no external web font requests, which keeps text rendering predictable and avoids layout shifts.
- Ships a neutral color palette with sufficient contrast for body text and UI controls in both the default, Primary, and Nordic style variations.
- Respects the user's reduced-motion preference where motion is used.
