A fast-launching block theme with ready-made patterns and three style variations - enough to build almost any page straight out of the box, and easy to extend further through a child theme.

== Description ==

DIGISTARTER is a block theme built to launch fast and build real sites with - not a bare foundation you still have to finish yourself.

It ships 35 ready-made patterns, sorted into Opener, Text only, Text with Media and Media only: full-screen and split openers, sliders and marquees, tiles, timelines, pricing tables, comparisons, FAQs, testimonials, logo bars and more. Several of them come alive while visitors scroll - lines that fill in, text that slides in, sections that stay pinned - and all of them work on phones, most with a layout of their own there.

Every section can switch its background in the Styles tab (neutral, primary, accent), and the whole site can switch between three style variations: square, rounded and extra rounded. Colours, fonts and spacing come from theme.json, so everything stays editable in the Site Editor.

On top of that come a header and footer, a blog layout with a featured post and a random reading suggestion, and a "Landing page" template without navigation: only the logo at the top and a slim footer with your legal links.

== Installation ==

1. In your site's dashboard go to Appearance > Themes and click Add New.
2. Click Upload Theme, choose the ZIP file and click Install Now.
3. Click Activate.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= How do I change the look? =

Switch between three style variations (square, rounded, extra rounded) under Appearance > Editor > Styles - without any coding. All colours and the font can be changed right there as well.

= How do I set up my home page? =

Create a new page and pick "Home page" in the window that opens: it fills the page with a complete home page to start from. Then set that page as your homepage under Settings > Reading. The front page always follows these settings - a page of your choice, including its template, or your latest posts in the blog layout.

= How do I build a landing page without navigation? =

Open the page, and in the sidebar under Template choose "Landing page". The page then shows only your logo at the top and a slim footer with your legal links. Both are template parts of their own, so you can change them in the Site Editor without touching the rest of the site.

= How do I build my own design on top of DIGISTARTER? =

Create a child theme with digistarter as its parent. Override colours, type or spacing in your own theme.json, add patterns to your own /patterns/ folder, or swap out a single /inc/ file via the digistarter_modules filter - nothing touches the parent theme, so updates stay safe.

= Why is there no page title on my pages? =

Page templates render the content only, so add a heading as your first block or start with one of the opener patterns. Posts still show their title automatically.

= How do I add my own menu items to the footer? =

Activating the theme does not create new menus; the footer uses the menus that already exist. Create an additional menu under Appearance > Editor > Navigation and select it in the footer. This way the footer can show different links than the main menu.

= Which languages does the theme come in? =

English, German (du) and German (Sie). Translations from translate.wordpress.org take precedence; anything they don't cover yet falls back to the translations bundled with the theme.

== Changelog ==

= 1.2.1 =
* Search template: removed a stray HTML comment that the Site Editor reported as an invalid block.
* Header: from 1024px up the row no longer wraps; a menu too long for one line wraps its own items instead, the logo and the buttons stay in place.
* Patterns: image placeholders now match the editor's own markup exactly, so no block is rewritten on opening.
* Right-to-left languages: marquees, the logo bar and the history's swipe row run the right way; section heads, the header logo and the overlay menu follow the reading direction.

= 1.2.0 =
* A complete overhaul and modernisation of the theme.
* Patterns: all patterns reworked for a consistent layout grid, spacing and alignment on every screen size, with mobile layouts of their own (swipe rows, stacked cards, endless strips).
* Patterns: new scroll effects - timelines that fill in, text that fills letter by letter, text that slides in from the sides, stacking video panels.
* Patterns: new full-screen opener, sliding statement, logo bar, certificates, comparison table, steps, price tiers and more.
* New "Landing page" template with a logo-only header and a slim footer.
* Front page: follows Settings > Reading (a chosen page with its template, or the latest posts); the demo home page is now a "Home page" pattern offered when a new page is created.
* Section styles: every section can switch between standard, neutral, primary and accent; boxes adapt so they never vanish into their section.
* Style variations: media and boxes keep the page margin on phones in every variation; corners follow the variation's radius.
* Typography: larger, more modern type scale on large screens; long words are hyphenated automatically.
* Header and footer: the site logo is always 30px tall; the footer texts are translatable (the "Powered by" credit stays as it is).
* Translations: complete German translations (du and Sie), bundled as a fallback behind translate.wordpress.org.
* Accessibility: all motion respects "reduce motion"; duplicated marquee content is hidden from screen readers and keyboards.
