A quiet, editorial block theme for writers.

== Description ==

Kalke is a block theme built around a twelve-column reading grid. The blog
index pairs an author rail with the post list; single posts can run with or
without a sidebar, and the whole palette is driven by theme.json so recolouring
in Global Styles re-themes every component.

Templates included: blog index, single post (with sidebar), single post
(full width), page, page (full width), archive, search results and 404.

Fonts are bundled with the theme — there are no external requests.

== Installation ==

1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Themes and click Add New.
2. Click Upload Theme, choose the zip, and click Install Now.
3. Click Activate.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= How do I use the full-width post layout? =

Open a post, and in the Post tab of the sidebar choose "Post — full width" under
Template. The same is available for pages as "Page — full width".

= How do I change the colours? =

Appearance > Editor > Styles. Every component reads from the palette, so changing
a colour there updates the whole theme.

= Where does the author rail on the blog index come from? =

It is ordinary blocks in the Blog Home template — Appearance > Editor >
Templates > Blog Home. Edit the image, name, biography and link directly. The
portrait uses the Site Logo block, so it follows your site logo setting.

= How do I turn the post teaser on the blog index on or off? =

It is a block, so no code is involved. Go to Appearance > Editor > Templates >
Index, click the excerpt under any post title, and delete the block — or use the
inserter to add a Post Excerpt block back under the title.

The listing adapts on its own: with a teaser present each row is taller, so the
thumbnail squares up to 180x180 to balance it; remove the teaser and the
thumbnail returns to its 180x120 landscape crop. Nothing else needs changing.

The teaser is trimmed to two lines whatever its length, so rows keep an even
rhythm down the page. To change how much text is pulled, select the block and
set "Max number of words".

= Why do my paginated posts show page links? =

Kalke re-adds the `wp_link_pages()` navigation that the Post Content block
omits, so posts split with the Page Break block stay navigable.
