A block theme for newsrooms and press-release sites.

== Description ==

Press Release is a fast, accessible block theme built for the way announcements
are actually published: a dateline, a lead paragraph a journalist can file
as-is, a quote, a boilerplate and a media contact.

It ships patterns for each of those, plus a press-kit header and an embargo
note, and it stays out of the way — system fonts, no bundled libraries, no
tracking, no build step.

The theme is complete on its own. Install the free PressFeed plugin alongside
it and the theme also takes over the plugin's newsroom views: the release
archive, the category archives and all three single-release styles (classic,
wide and minimal). The plugin keeps owning content and behaviour; the theme
only owns presentation, and the colours, widths and radius chosen in the
plugin's settings still drive how the theme looks.

== Installation ==

1. In your admin, go to Appearance > Themes > Add New.
2. Search for "Press Release", install it and activate it.
3. Optional: install the free PressFeed plugin to import press releases and
   measure how they perform.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I need the PressFeed plugin? =

No. Without it, Press Release is an ordinary news/blog block theme. With it,
the release templates the theme ships are picked up automatically.

= Will my colours from the plugin still apply? =

Yes. The theme's palette resolves through the plugin's CSS custom properties
(--pf-primary, --pf-accent, and so on) with sensible fallbacks, so changing a
colour in the plugin changes the theme too.

= Can I customise the release templates? =

Yes. Copy any file from the theme's pressfeed/ directory into a child theme's
pressfeed/ directory and edit it there.

== Changelog ==

= 1.1.2 =
* Removed: Theme URI and Author URI from the theme header. Both are optional and
  neither pointed at a page carrying theme or author information.

= 1.1.1 =
* Added: the PressFeed mark on the companion-plugin notice, so the suggestion is
  recognisable rather than another unbranded admin banner.

= 1.1.0 =
* Added: a Press Release panel in the Customizer for the newsroom listing and
  single release pages — columns, image position, card style, reading width,
  body size and what to show. Presentation only; it never changes release text.
* Fixed: reading width and body size had no effect, because the rules were
  scoped to the archive wrapper rather than the article one.

= 1.0.0 =
* Initial release.
