A block theme for gold and silver savings platforms, bullion dealers and precious-metal retailers.

== Description ==

Sonapati presents rates and holdings the way a bullion house presents metal: weighed, stamped and certified.

The theme ships a rate-board template part styled like the board outside a jeweller's shop, plan cards with a clipped price-tag corner, and an oxblood "vault" palette for the sections that carry custody and compliance. Gold and silver are treated as equal metals, each with its own colour ramp and unit conventions.

Design decisions are measured rather than assumed:

* The gold ramp is sampled from real gold artwork, giving an antique gold at hue 40 rather than a bright yellow.
* Every colour pairing in the palette is checked against WCAG 2.1. Notably, the brand gold fails AA for body text on white at 3.53:1, so a darker step is supplied for small gold text and the primary button uses dark text at 5.37:1 rather than white at 3.53:1.
* Khand, the condensed face used for rates, ships no tabular-figure feature and its "1" is 32% narrower than its "0". Any figure that changes therefore uses Mukta, which does ship tabular figures, and the rate board provides fixed digit cells so a live ticker cannot reflow.
* All three typefaces carry full Devanagari, and body line-height increases automatically for Hindi, Marathi, Nepali, Sanskrit and Konkani.

= What belongs in a plugin =

This theme is presentation only. A live rate feed, a savings calculator, plan or testimonial post types, and any REST endpoint belong in a companion plugin so that a site owner can change themes without losing content or functionality.

The bundled rate board holds static, editable figures. A plugin can replace the figure paragraphs with a dynamic block; when it does, it should wrap each character in a `span.sonapati-d` so the row cannot shift as digits change. The stylesheet already provides those digit cells.

= Blocks patterns included =

Rate board, hero, trust strip, how it works, saving plans, gold or silver comparison, vault band, withdrawal options, saver stories, press mentions, FAQ, app call to action, and mandatory disclosures.

= Before you publish =

The demo copy avoids any claim of assured returns, and the trust strip and disclosure patterns contain labelled placeholders rather than invented partner names or testimonials. Replace them with real, verifiable details, and have the risk and regulatory language checked by legal counsel for your jurisdiction.

== Installation ==

1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Themes and click Add New Theme.
2. Search for Sonapati, then click Install and Activate.
3. Go to Appearance > Editor to set your logo, menus and colours.
4. To use the landing page layout, create a page, set it as your static front page under Settings > Reading, and the front page template will apply. You can also insert any bundled pattern individually from the block inserter.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does the rate board show live prices? =

No. The theme ships static, editable figures, because fetching prices from an external service is plugin functionality rather than theme functionality. The board is styled and ready for a plugin to populate.

= Why does the primary button use dark text instead of white? =

White text on the brand gold measures 3.53:1, which fails the WCAG AA threshold of 4.5:1. Dark oxblood text on the same gold measures 5.37:1 and passes.

= Can I use the theme in Hindi or another Devanagari language? =

Yes. Every bundled typeface includes Devanagari, loaded through a separate unicode-range so Latin-only sites never download it, and line-height increases automatically for Devanagari languages.

= How do I change the colours? =

Go to Appearance > Editor > Styles. Every colour is a theme.json preset, so changing one updates the whole site. Keep the contrast notes in the description in mind when substituting the gold.

The theme bundles no photographs or logos. Image blocks in the bundled patterns
ship empty for the site owner to fill, and the screenshot shows only the theme's
own typography and colour.
